High School Sports Feature: Fightin' Knights'

A day after being beaten soundly by Kentwood, the Kamiak High School girl's basketball team staged a remarkable comeback over Mount Tahoma to keep themselves in the 4A State Tournament at the Tacoma Dome. Down 22-8 after one quarter the Fightin' Knights' came back all the way to take the lead with about 2 minutes left and eventually went on to win 55-51.

Leading the way for Kamiak were seniors Samantha Sovich and Kelsey Patrick who each scored 12 points (Patrick also pulled down 17 rebounds). The teams second leading scorer on the season, Michelle Lipscomb, contributed with 9 points.

Kamiak will now play Lewis & Clark on Friday, with the winner having a chance to play on Saturday for a chance at 5th place against the winner of the Eastlake vs. Bellarmine Prep game.
