High School Sports Feature: Lady Falcons of Hanford

Brandon has said that for my high school posts I seem to feature more on westside schools. I believe he even called me "bias."

Just for that I will showcase the Hanford High School girls basketball team today.

The 3A State Basketball Tournament begins tomorrow in the Tacoma Dome, and this year, Hanford is on a roll going into the games.

Last week, Hanford (19-7) came up against West Valley in the 3A Eastern Regional. The Falcons were 0-3 against West Valley during the year, but you know what they say, fourth time is the charm. Hanford upended the Rams 46-39 and punched their tickets to Tacoma.

Laura Hughes, Hanfords dominate 6-foot-2 post, lit up the scoreboard with 19 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Hanford dominated the whole game and only trialed once during the game and that was 9-8 early in the game. After that they went on a 5-0 run and never looked back.

Now Hanford is on to State!

Oh, and Hanford meets #1 Kennedy in the first round tomorrow. Kennedy by the way is undefeated. The Lancers are 24-0 on the season. Impressive! But I'm sure we'll feature this team later in the week.
