Emerald City Cup - Wazzu sells its soul for $$$

In the news today is the proposed idea of moving the annual Apple Cup matchup between the loathesome Washington Huskies and Washington's Team, your Wazzu Cougars to Qwest Field.

Chalk this one up to dollars as both sides seem to think that playing at Qwest will increase attendance and bring in mucho dinero for both schools. Granted, the last two forays into the Emerald City have garnered paid attendances of about 50,000, but will we see those same numbers in an economy that is to put it lightly, slightly underachieving.

With many more concerns for people these days, less people are likely to travel, turning this game into a Huskey love-fest in Seattle. If this proposal goes through, Wazzu will show money dictates how they do business.

The students lose. The east side fans lose. Tradition loses. But hey, at least they can buy the team a nice new set of Under Armour clothes for those snowy games in Seattle.
