High School Sports Feature: Stadium High School

Most every person knows about historic Stadium High School. From the gorgeous view of the football field, to the scene of the late Heath Ledger dancing on the bleachers in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. Heck I even practiced their when I played in a flag football league. One thing you may not know is that the Tigers are also home to a very good softball team.

Stadium (6-1 overall and 3-1 in Narrows Bay) proved that they are a force to be reckoned with in the Narrows League on Wednesday when they came back from 3 runs down in the ninth to get the victory 6-5 over Wilson (5-1 overall, 5-0 Narrows Bridge).

Even though the teams combined to score 11 runs, this game was a defensive battle. Both pitchers dominated until the ninth when the teams combined to score 7 runs. Stadium sophomore Heidy Wells struck out nine while her adversary, Wilson freshman Janessa Flynn mowed down 18 batters.

After the Rams scored 3 times in the top half of the ninth it was up to Stadium to come back in the bottom half if they wanted to keep pace with the rest of the Narrows League. They answered the call when freshman Ashley Falcon hit a 2-run home run to get the Tigers within one run. A few batters later Katelin Sisk drove home the tying and winning run with a single up the middle. Sisk finished the game going 2 for 5 with 3 RBI.

Stadium travels to South Kitsap to take on the Wolves on Friday.
