High School Feature: Lake City softball and Cheney soccer

Lake City pitcher Lela Work ran her record to 10-0 on the season, as the Timberwolves defeated Coeur d'Alene on Tuesday. She allowed just two hits and struck out 14.

In other words, if this happened in the majors, she'd be on SportsCenter.

Overall Lake City is 11-1 on the season, 5-0 in league and they hold a two-game lead over Post Falls in the Inland Empire League.

Meanwhile, back in Washington, Cheney boy's soccer remained atop the Great Northern League after beating Medical Lake 2-1. Evan Cook and Xavier Day scored a goal to lead the Blackhawks to their seventh victory of the season. They're undefeated by the way and are a game ahead of Pullman, which is 6-1.

Big thanks to Greg Lee and Mike Vlahovich for doing such a great job of writing about high school sports in the Spokesman Review. Without them, this would be pretty much impossible for me to do.
