Things Isiah Thomas could do for free other than coach basketball...

Isiah Thomas will donate his first year's salary to Florida International University, due to cutbacks happening at the school. Jim Calhoun should probably take notice.

Now, we've heard the negative things that happened to Thomas when he was with the New York Knicks and ESPN's Bill Simmons certainly had a few bones to pick with him. But that's the Knicks. NBA Basketball. Madison Square Garden. Pretty big stage to screw up on.

Now FIU. I don't know what arena they play. I think they're in the Sun Belt Conference. He's not getting paid, therefore what can you say about your expectations going into the season. They average less than 1,000 fans a game. I'm thinking this is the perfect storm for Isiah Thomas at the moment. He has nowhere to go but up.

That being said, here's some other things he could do for free and be successful at it.

1. Write a book about why he isn't as good as Michael Jordan.

2. Take the Yankees GM position (I would love this, hell I'd pay him to do this - I hope Thomas enjoys Top Ramon packets)

3. Smile even when a franchise is completely crashing down around him.

4. Go on "Who want's to be a millionaire" ... win it... and then spend his money on a faulty used car. In otherwords, what he did with the New York Knicks.

8. Switch places with the University of Washington's Isiah Thomas for a game or two.
