Man Card Rules: NFL Blitz instead of Madden

In honor of John Madden retiring, we must take a moment to remember the man that gave us one of the greatest sports games of all time.

Now it's the only NFL football game out there, but back in the day we had some options and still Madden was the best choice because it was realistic and had a fantastic amount of features.

That was, of course, unless you were the booger-eating wrestling fan that enjoyed NFL Blitz - one of the worst bastardizations of the game of football ever. It was like they took NBA Jam, gave them helmets and shoulder pads, turned on the computer assistance so every game was close and dumbed the game down to the point where a green vegetable could operate the controls.

The only kids that liked Blitz were marker-sniffers and Ritalin chompers.

Please, turn your man-card in.

  1. I hated Blitz, even if you were beating your opponent by 6 touchdowns they would make a comback and make the game interesting. You couldn't complete a pass because evertime you threw the ball you would get hit and it would be intercepted, oh and running the ball was worthless because you would fumble it away. Damn you Blitz!!

  2. Blitz sucked. Madden sucks. EA sports sucks for buying the NFL rights. ESPN 2k5 is the best football game ever made. If you haven't played it, do so. You will never want to play Madden again. The controls are smooth and the play is fast pace. The highlights are awesome and the weekly recaps of the games are so neat. Best football game I have ever played. I still play it, screw Madden and EA. Oh, and the best part is it was only $19.99 when it came out. Thank you ESPN. EA made their game $49.99. Buttheads.

  3. GREAT call. Blitz was only fun if you had a bunch of buddies together and were doing a quick tournament. BUT even then playing Madden with 2 minute quarters is a much better tourney.

    And Clyde,
Madden does NOT suck. I know it's not great and I know that it is complete bullcrap that EA bought the NFL rights. Competition would be an amazing thing for Madden. BUT come on, NFL 2k5 is NOT as good as current Madden. NOT at all. I've put tons of seasons and way to many man hours into NFL 2k5. It's a great game but compared to Madden??? Not close. The only thing that NFL 2k5 had that may have been better than Madden was their running game.
