What the hell is this Tablet thingy?
Have you seen this crap Apple is coming out with? Look to your right at the next big thing for hipsters with black-rimmed glasses. The Apple Tablet - which is basically the further transition of reality into Star Trek: The Next Generation - has one button and a big touch screen. That's right, if you want to right click, you're f-ed.
After months of hype and rumour-mongering that only seemed to get more intense the more tight-lipped Apple executives became, Jobs stepped on to a San Francisco stage yesterday to declare the opening of a whole new category of electronic device. Halfway between a smartphone and a portable computer, the touchscreen-operated iPad will provide a whole new way to buy books and newspapers, play games, watch films and TV shows and surf the web, he said.
"We want to kick off 2010 by introducing a truly magical and revolutionary product," he said. "It's so much more intimate than a laptop and so much more capable than a smart phone."
If I see one of those... I'm spilling coffee on it.

The coolest club in Spokane
This is an actual club. In Spokane. I'm assuming they just meet to talk about Macs, which is pretty nerdy in itself but they do it in Spokane! So please, go to their website, join their club and spread your Mac-Daddy ways throughout the Lilac City.

Cheap Apple product peddler gets sued
Word of advice to tech companies, don't try to make knockoff Apple computers. Or power adapters.
Why? Because they'll go after you.
Apple is taking another company to court, once again over knock-off hardware. Media Solutions Holdings will face Cupertino in court over making power adapters for laptops, at least one model of which allegedly violates an Apple patent.
The company being sued peddles more than just Apple knock-offs, they sell adapters for numerous brand-name laptops, including HP, Acer, Sony, Toshiba and Lenovo. It's a quite common business, as most brand-name power adapters can be expensive.
Apple is often synonymous with pricey, which makes them a common target for manufacturers of clone hardware like Psystar, but the term "counterfeit" better describes this case. It seems that Media Solutions Holdings was attempting to pass its adapters off as genuine Apple hardware.
Do you think consumers were tipped off when they found an orange on the power adapter instead of an apple?

I always knew Macs were crap
First that little OS snafu where all user files were deleted, and now Apple is shipping defective or broken machines. What the heck is happening at the World Wide Leader of Cute Computers?
Scattered reports around the Web indicate that there may be one or more design flaws with Apple's 27" Core i7-powered iMac. Many users claim that their high-end iMac systems have cracked screens out of the box, and some units are completely dead on arrival. Among the affected are editors at Engadget, who recently received a new i7 model that refused to boot -- though, a different i7 iMac was fine.
Customers have piled into the Apple Support forum to complain about their busted machines, but Apple has yet to determine the root of the problem. It would seem most likely that the cracked displays are a result of insufficient packaging, poor handling -- or both. The DOA machines could also stem from improper shipping practices, though it is less probable.
Is the guy shipping all these Macs Ace Ventura? I mean a few cracked screens is one thing, but widespread cases of that along with dead machines is not a good sign for quality control at Apple.

Dancing With The Stars
ABC recently announced the lineup for their new season of Dancing With The Stars. Now I'll admit it, I don't watch the show. But a certain female friend of mine never misses an episode. And this season I was informed by my Aunt that a distant relative of mine will be on the show.
No, not Steve-O (thank god). I'm talking about Steve Wozniak. Think you've never heard of him? Think again. Does the brand Apple ring a bell? Yeah, he was a co-founder of the company.
Now before I jump too far into this post, I'll explain how I am related to Steve. If I have my facts correct, my great grandmother was a cousin to Steve's grandfather. For those of you who are counting how far removed we are, he's my fourth cousin. Yeah, I said distant. I just didn't say how distant.
Anyway, here's what the ABC bio says about Steve:
A Silicon Valley icon and philanthropist for the past three decades, Steve Wozniak, a.k.a. "The Woz," helped shape the computer industry with his design of Apple's first line of products, the Apple I and II, and influenced the popular Macintosh. After leaving Apple Computer Inc. in 1985, Wozniak was involved in various business and philanthropic ventures, focusing primarily on computer capabilities in schools and stressing hands-on learning and encouraging creativity for students. In 2000, he was inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame and was awarded the prestigious Heinz Award for Technology, The Economy and Employment. Wozniak is also a published author with the release of his New York Times Best Selling autobiography, iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon, in September 2006.
Oh, and at 58 he's the oldest of the new dancer lineup. Well, Steve, good luck from your fourth cousin. Or something like that.
