You know all this talk about climate change? One sciencetist has said we're too stupid to solve it. Basically meaning we're screwed royally.
Humans are too stupid to prevent climate change from radically impacting on our lives over the coming decades. This is the stark conclusion of James Lovelock, the globally respected environmental thinker and independent scientist who developed the Gaia theory.
It follows a tumultuous few months in which public opinion on efforts to tackle climate change has been undermined by events such as the climate scientists' emails leaked from the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the failure of the Copenhagen climate summit.
"I don't think we're yet evolved to the point where we're clever enough to handle a complex a situation as climate change," said Lovelock in his first in-depth interview since the theft of the UEA emails last November. "The inertia of humans is so huge that you can't really do anything meaningful."
I mean couldn't he have broke it to us in a nicier way like "You guys are morons" or "It's not you, it's me."
That would have made me feel better.

Climate change caused by burping worms?
Our cars aren't the only thing emitting CO2 into the atmosphere and basically screwing up the earth's temperate balance.Burping worm's are to blame as well, according to Fox News.
Aquatic animals that feed on lake and stream bottom sediments burp out small amounts of nitrous oxide, a potent greenhouse gas, a new study finds.
While the biological emissions from these critters pales in comparison to the nitrous oxide emitted by fossil fuel burning, their contribution could increase as more and more nitrogen-rich fertilizer runs off into lakes, streams and seas, the authors of the study said.
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is more commonly known to anyone who has sat in the dentist's chair as laughing gas.
In the atmosphere it is a powerful greenhouse gas, packing about 310 times the punch as the same weight of carbon dioxide (though carbon dioxide is still the bigger driver because there is much more of it).
So not only should we not be driving as much but we should also be fishing a lot more often to kill off this evil and gas-creating worm population. Leave it to Fox News to get to the bottom of things here.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go firebomb a bait shop to save the Earth.

America puts global warming on the back burner
The Pew Research Center just released this study about what Americans think should be the top priority for Barack Obama in 2009. Not surprisingly, the economy and jobs are no. 1 and no. 2 on the list.Obviously people in this country want to make a living and you know, not get laid off.
However, one surprisingly development is Global Warming is dead last in top priorities for 2009. I guess Al Gore just didn't do enough spreading the word about the evil ManBearPig on South Park.
But really? Dead last. While I'm not one of those doomsayers that thinks we'll be sleeping with the fishes in a couple of years after the eco system completely crashes - heck, I'm suffering through one of the most epic winters Spokane has ever had - but it's pretty obvious that something is happening with our climate and we need to adjust.
However, I mean, we need to figure out what's going on. Problem is that enviormentalism is one of those things where people really lose sight with what's important and go into "we'll show them mode", refuse to compromise or work with companies, government offices and other individuals and then essentially they become a popularist movement full of liberal college hippies. No joke, ask anyone who's a "environmentalist" and they'll tell you they grew up in a suburban middle-class home, enjoy long rides in their Subaru, like hiking at the 3,000 ft. mountain just outside town, marveling at nature in our city zoos and really not having a true understanding or passion for nature.
Really they're doing it because a bunch of other Dashboard Confessional fans are saying the same thing too.
So once things start to rough, namely the economy, people start dropping their recreational feelings really quick. So after all that name-calling, fingerpointing, sit-in protests and bumper stickers, you're telling me that Americans really don't care about the environment.
Oh meanwhile, we're still actually debating if this is just cycle of warming or if we're really screwing up the planet. But oh wait, people can't afford iPods anymore so conservation efforts may have to wait.
Carry on, at least I'm in the Northwest where the biggest natural disaster we have is my morning breath.

Do the right thing on Valentines Day...
Really guys, don't screw this one up, because girls always remember Valentines Day. They have a memory like the Rain man when it comes to this sort of thing. Remember that time you got her that DVD copy of "Angels in the Outfield" and it didn't exactly spark her interest.Yeah don't let that happen again.
Here's a couple of other things that you shouldn't do...
1. Spend the evening watching the latest episode of Smash Lab on the Discovery Channel with her.
2. Chuck-E-Cheeses. While this was a wonderful haven of magical animatronic creatures and plastic ball pits that inspired dreams of wonderment when you were eight. However, it's not going to get you laid when your 22.
3. Dressing up like a Superhero and running around the house trying to save your girl. Don't dress your pet dog as a superhero ever.
4. Ask to skip all the Valentines' Day foreplay and getting down to business.
5. Videotape it.
6. Go to dinner with your parents.
7. Go around telling people that its alright to be single on Valentines day. Not like that one hasn't been done before. You're basically Dick Cheney saying global warming isn't happening.
