Brandon Kaufman named top 10 FCS wide receiver

Last week I told you about how The Sports Network named Eastern Washington University defensive back Matt Johnson as one of the top 10 defensive backs in the FCS.

Today they named EWU's Brandon Kaufman as one of the top 10 FCS wide receivers.

Here's what The Sports Network had to say about Kaufman:

Brandon Kaufman, Eastern Washington, Jr., 6-5, 205 - With star tailback Taiwan Jones sidelined for the FCS semifinals and championship game last season, Kaufman took his play to an elite level, catching a combined 17 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns for the national champion Eagles. He finished the season with 76 receptions for 1,214 yards and 15 touchdowns in 15 games, and was the first EWU player to score on the new red turf at Roos Field. He uses his big body to be physical in traffic and long legs to get behind the secondary.

Looks like the team is already getting tons of national exposure!

Kaufman also has the distinction of being the first Eagle to score a touchdown on the red turf. I was there as he scored. Fast forward to 2:05 I'm the guy in the number 8 Eastern jersey jumping and screaming.

I tip my cap to you Husky fans for not rooting for Oregon in the National Championship game

I've been known to rail on UW fans quite a bit on this blog, however after the Huskies beat the insufferable Nebraska Huskers this season, I had to give them a tip of the cap.

I also have to give Husky fans for doing the right thing as sports fans: Rooting against Oregon. Sure winning the national championship would be a nice feather in the cap for the Pac-10, but Husky fans are bitter, bitter rivals with the Ducks.

While I personally think it's crap when Husky fans say "Oh we're actually a bigger rival with Oregon" because it IS a load of crap. The Apple Cup will always carry more weight than UW-Oregon. However, Husky fans are doing the right thing by saying "Go Auburn" instead of "Go Pac-10."

I've always thought the SEC is a steaming pile of football vanity, mainly because SEC fans root for each other in bowl games so they can be the best football conference. Um... why? I thought the SEC had the best rivalries and football mattered most to them. If that were true... they wouldn't be rooting for their "bitter rivals?"

Fans that root for "their conference" have no real understanding on how stupid that sounds. "I'm going to root for the team that beat my team out for a spot in this game."

You don't see Red Sox fans rooting for the Yankees.

So Husky fans, congrats, you're not completely hopeless.

Oregon's BCS National Championship uniforms

Nike has released the uniforms that the University of Oregon Ducks will be wearing in the BCS National Championship game.

This season Oregon has worn 12 different uniform combinations in 12 games. Remember, you can always check out the Oregon Duck Tracker for what uniform was worn in each game.

So it was no surprise when Nike announced that Oregon would wear a totally new uniform in the Championship game.

Here are some key points about the uniforms

• The helmets are the "Carbon" design the team wore against Portland State, but the "yellow on the O decal is much brighter.
  
• The uniform will feature the "white on white" pants and jersey combo.
• The jersey now has an "Oregon Shield" at the base of the neckline.
  
• However, like the new neon yellow on the helmet O, the outline color around the silver numbers on the jersey are also the new yellow.
• New neon yellow socks and shoes.
  
• When the palms of the gloves are held to together, they reveal an Oregon "O".

Now that you've seen the BCS National Championship uniforms for Oregon, what are your thoughts? Like 'em, hate 'em, don't care. We want to know!

BCS Championship? More like just BS Championship

All I can say about the game tonight is, "who cares?"

Not I.

The BCS is a joke and this game proves it.
