Fall is here and football is in full swing. And as if I'm not excited enough for college football every week, I now see a commercial for the Pac-12 Football Championship Game.

I can't wait!

Negative yard punt by Oregon State

Last week Oregon State of the PAC 12 lost to Sacramento State of the Big Sky.

And just when things seemed like they couldn't get worse for the Beavers they punt the ball for negative four yards.

I was watching the Oregon State at Wisconsin game and almost couldn't believe what I saw when it happened.

Yes, it a negative yard punt.

Punter Johnny Hekker came onto the field and tried a rugby style kick that went wrong. It wasn't blocked, there was no wind and it wasn't a bad snap. It was just a bad kick.

Paint the grass

Oregon State is heading to Boise State this weekend to take on the Broncos on the blue turf.

To help make the players used to playing on the different color of field, OSU has painted their practice field blue.

In order to make the green field look as blue as possible, it had to be painted white first. The Beavers won't practice on the field until Tuesday. Oregon State's scout team also will wear blue jerseys this week.

Perhaps Montana should try this same method in two years before coming back to Roos Field.

New PAC 10 logo

The PAC 10 is gaining momentum across the nation. To help with their goal of not being overshadowed by the East coast schools the PAC 10 added two more schools and almost caused the destruction of the Big 12.

Once Colorado and Utah join, the Conference announced the name will change to the PAC 12.
And sticking with the theme of change, the PAC 10 unveiled a new logo.

What do you think about the change? I really like it. The new logo is crisp and sharp. It features the mountains of the northwest, the ocean waves of the coast and the desert sun. Pretty sweet.

If you truely want to remember the 2010 Olympics, you may want to buy yourself one of these bad boys.

Millions of people tuned in to watch the Olympic closing ceremonies in Vancouver this past Sunday. If you were among them, you might have thought, "What a nice tribute to Canada." Or, "It's great to see the athletes of the world come together." Or, "I really need one of those giant inflatable beavers."

If the last of those sentiments applies to you, good news! According to the Ottawa Citizen, for just five grand, one of those huge rodents can be yours. It's an even better deal considering that's 5,000 Canadian dollars, making it only $4,846.88 U.S. (If you want the 35-foot-tall moose, it'll cost you a little bit more.) 

Only 5,000 dollars for a huge beaver? How could that not be an awesome investment. Something tells me, one of these things will find its way on Oregon State's football field next season.

Seattle University shows that Oregon State sucks, so does the Pac-10

If you're a Pac-10 fan, you can't be happy with bottom-feeder Oregon State losing to Seattle University by 51 points, their worst ever in school history at home. Oh yeah, and SU is playing their first year in Div. I. Ooops.

The win was surprising on many levels. For one, an Oregon State team that had struggled early in the season appeared to be turning something of a corner when it lost close games at both Washington and Washington State over the weekend. For another, Seattle U.'s leading scorer, Charles Garcia — ninth in the nation at 22.6 points per game — barely contributed until the matter had been long decided, scoring just one point in the first 35 minutes while saddled with foul trouble.

Can we say now that since Oregon State played the some of the league's top two teams very closely - Washington and Washington St. - that the Pac-10 is officially crappy? Really crappy.

No pants, no underwear, no frisbee

Walk onto any college campus around the US and holler, "Hey, anyone want to play a game of Ultimate Frisbee?" And you're sure to be pummeled by interested players.

Yes, it is that popular.

The rules are simple, catch, throw, catch again, no running, get into the endzone and one more. What was it? Hmmm...? Oh right! Wear pants.

One of the club teams for the University of Oregon forgot the last rule when they were at a competition in Corvallis, Oregon. (FYI, Corvallis is home to Oregon State University. Oregon and OSU like each other as much as UW and WSU like each other) in other words. Not a lot.

This team, has a team name of EGO. I guess it stands for Eugene Gentlemen's Organization. Anyway, the team EGO was a very high ranked team among club teams, and at the match against OSU five of the players removed their shorts and underwear and played.

Now the reasoning behind this action is not known but I guess they were supposedly wearing long shirts. Here's what I think really happened:

OSU player, talking to his teammates: "It's getting hot out boys. Let's take our shirts off."
(Remember a lot of frat guys play club and intermural sports)

EGO player: "Yuck, you're all sweaty. Don't rub against me!"

OSU: "I'm sweaty cause it's warm out. I'm in a frat. Are you?"

EGO: "No, now let's play."

OSU: "I love my frat brothers. They are the bestest."

EGO: "Whatever. Let's play. And put your shirt back on."

OSU: "You should really join a frat. We never do homework and still get A's. We also play frisbee a lot and pop our collars. Oh! And we wear lots of pink shirts and think we're tough! I love frisbee!"

EGO talking to teammate: "We've got to do something awesome to these guys."

OSU: "OMG!!!! You took your pants off!!!! I'm telling!!!!" Then he runs away.

Moral of the story: Don't play frisbee without pants on.

Washington Huskies Weekly Update: KryptoNate!

Welcome back to the AP top 25 Dawgs. After being left out of last weeks top 25 the Huskies make a return this week at number 22. This after beating the Oregon schools at home (Oregon State Beavers 79-60 on Thursday, Oregon Ducks 103-84 on Saturday), both by 19 points. UW is in first place in the Pac-10 by a full game over the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Justin Dentmon continued his great play of late by scoring a total of 49 points and handing out 9 assists in the two games. Also in the Oregon game 4 of the 5 starters scored at least 20 points (Quincy Pondexter 20, Jon Brockman 21, Isaiah Thomas 24 and Dentmon 21).

Ex-Huskies also did pretty well over the NBA's All Star weekend with Nate Robinson winning the dunk contest in his all green suit of kryptonite over Superman Dwight Howard. Brandon Roy went for 14 points (on 7 of 8 shooting), 5 rebounds and 5 assists in Sundays All-Star game.

This week the Huskies face UCLA and USC both on the road. If they can pull off victories in both of those games that will put them in great position to win the Pac-10. After this weeks road games the Dawgs have the remaining 4 regular season games at home.

Washington Huskies Weekly Update

No Sweet 16 for Stanford. The Huskies finally broke through and beat the Stanford Cardinal in Palo Alto for the first time since 1993 on Sunday. The Cardinal scored 12 straight points midway through the first half to go up 25-15, but the Huskies closed the first half strong and went into the break up 35-34. UW kept up the pressure in the second half and ended up defeating the Cardinal 75-68. Quincy Pondexter lead the Dawgs with 20 points, Isaiah Thomas added 17 for his 17th consecutive game in double figures and Jon Brockman added his 11th double-double of the season.

Unfortunately the Huskies lost the first game of this Californication on Thursday night when they were soundly beaten by the California Golden Bears. UW held a 43-34 lead early in the second half but imploded after that and went on to lose 86-71.

The Huskies currently ranked 22nd in the nation are now a half game back of the UCLA Bruins for 1st place in the Pac-10 at 8-3.

This week the Huskies head back home to battle the Oregon State Beavers on Thursday and the Oregon Ducks on Valentines Day. Fitting because the Huskies Ducks have a real love/hate relationship, mostly hate. The Huskies are 13-1 this season at home, and with the Oregon schools being two of the worst in the Pac-10 the Dawgs should prevail in both of these games.

By the way, isn't it a shame that Oregon State and South Carolina don't play every year?
