Rent Fredy Montero’s Condo

Montero is currently on loan to the Columbian Millonarios FC according to Urban Condo Spaces bought the unit for $414,000 back in December of 2011.

The asking price is $2,200 per month for 885 square feet.

Now since Brandon and I are bloggers, the rent is more than we make per month.....combined. So we won't be able to make a move on it. I wonder if Terrell Owens bought a place while in Seattle?

Fredy Montero going back to Columbia?

This would ruin not only my day, but my week, if Fredy Montero was called back to his Colombian team. Here's the latest from the Seattle Times blog.

Not much, but the official word from the team is that it has not yet received notification from the Colombian soccer federation about a callup of Montero for any international friendlies. The report that came out about the subject could be a list of player the federation can choose from to fill slots on the team. Hard to say for sure, but as of this moment Montero isn't going anyhere.

But... it is a possibility. We'll see what happens when his team has a slot open and needs an extra push during the season. Will Montero go David Beckham on us and leave during the season? Hope not.

Kasey Keller is a god

Once Casey gets back from PGE Park (which hopefully he does, considering all the rowdy Portland fans down there), I'm sure he'll have plenty to say.

But until then, I'd just like to say a few things about the 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers tonight.

- Fredy Montero kind of looks like Rufio from "Hook." Thanks to Brad Moon of the Spokane Chiefs for pointing this out. Now every time he scores or comes into the game I'm going to go "ROOOOF-FEEEE-OOOOOO!"

- Portland fans are punks for throwing a water bottle out on the field to a injured Sounders FC player Sanna Nyassi. And he wasn't stalling for time. He was injured!! Get it right. Punks.

- One really annoying thing about Portland Timbers games: the chainsaw guy. Not so much that he's actually cutting a log during the match, but because FSN decided to put a mic right next to the chainsaw guy so the announcers have to scream to be heard.

- Soldout game. 16,000 fans for this US Open Cup match. Wow. When Portland gets an MLS team in 2011 - this is going to be the fiercest rivalry in the MLS.

Another game, another tie

Oh those Seattle Sounders FC, they faced up against the best team in the Eastern Conference, DC United, and proved to be just as good as them.

But not better as they once again tied, 3-3. Meaning that their record is now 5-3-5 with 20 points in the standings.

FC players scoring goals were Osvaldo Alonso, Nate Jaqua and Fredy Montero. All in all, a very decent outing against one of the best teams in the league.

However, this was a golden opportunity to gain ground on Chivas US and Houston, while distancing themselves from Colorado. It's looking like things may separate themselves in the Western Conference with the top two teams running away from the rest of the pack but there's still a lot of soccer left. ALOT. So don't count your horses yet.

How to get the Sounders FC on the winning track again

It's been a bit of a difficult run for the Sounders these past two weeks. First, they lost their first game of the season 1-0 to Kansas City at Qwest Field with Casey and I in attendance. In that game goalie Kasey Keller was given a red card, meaning that not only did the team have to play the rest (and majority) of the game one-man down, but he would also miss the next game.

Then yesterday without Keller they dropped their second match of the season to division-leading Chivas USA. Sounders FC star Fredy Montero missed an empty net shot at the beginning of the game, a miss that he admits changed the entire complexion of the match.

Now at 3-2, the Sounders have nine points and second place in the Western Conference. Not a bad spot, especially for an expansion team, but here's how they could get back to their winning ways...

1. Get Casey and I to play for the opposing team -
Casey played football, and I was scratched from one of my sixth-grade matches because I got my Velcro shoes all tangled up in the goal net. They had to cut me out.

2. Sign Youppi, the former mascot of the Montreal Expos - Not only is he an awesome mascot, but he also could add to the sex appeal to the team. What girl would not be taken aback by his rugged Canadian good looks.

3. Play against the Yankees - We're pretty sure they'd give up 22 goals in a soccer game too.

4. Get Sasquatch to play for the Sounders - Because what soccer player is going to say "You know what, I'll cover the hulking hairy mammoth that's known for eating livestock. Yep, that's me. No I'm not intimidated at all."

5. Employ the "Brandon Hansen playing FIFA 93 on the SNES" strategy - And slide tackle the hell out of everyone until they have to bring out the SNES Madden ambulance that runs over players standing out in the middle of the field.

So there you have it. Next up will the the San Jose Earthquakes at Qwest Field on April 25.

Seattle Sounders FC equal Mariners win total from last season

Okay, that's a bit on an overstatement but the last time an MLS expansion team started the season 2-0 they went on to win the league championship. Not to break out the champagne just two games in, but it is nice to see a Seattle sports team do good this year for a change.

Last night the Sounders beat Real Salt Lake 2-0 with one goal coming from the fine man to the right of this article. Fredy Montero already has three goals in two games - which is pretty awesome in soccer, I hear. Seattle Goalkeeper Kasey Keller (not to be confused with our very own Casey Knopik, who couldn't stop a soccer ball from hitting a fly) had his second shutout of the season and is playing well.

It was also the second consecutive sellout for the Sounders, 28,548, who braved the damp conditions to watch the game. Keep in mind we're in a down economy, and it's soccer in America, and the NCAA Tournament was going on in the same time.

Yeah I'd say the Sounders have some fan support, for now at least.
