Montero is currently on loan to the Columbian Millonarios FC according to Urban Condo Spaces bought the unit for $414,000 back in December of 2011.

The asking price is $2,200 per month for 885 square feet.

Now since Brandon and I are bloggers, the rent is more than we make per month.....combined. So we won't be able to make a move on it. I wonder if Terrell Owens bought a place while in Seattle?

Your Seattle Sports Roundup

There's so much that has happened in the Seattle Sports scene in the past few days, I'd be writing like a bunch of different posts that would be just way to time-consuming. So for your own enjoyment, here are the biggest things to happen in or around the Emerald City lately.

1. UW ousts WSU from the Pac-12 Tournament - Still probably won't make the NCAA Tournament themselves. Save for Gonzaga, this college basketball season has been a whole lot of blah. Cue the Huskies fans saying they deserve to be in the field of 68...

2. Sounders are first MLS team to beat a Mexican team in CONCACAF quarterfinals - Seattle could also become the first MLS team to win the CONCACAF Champions Cup if they keep doing what they're doing. Now if this could just translate to success in the MLS postseason.

3. Seahawks sign Percy Harvin, suddenly become the free agent darlings of the league - Because you know it always works when you get a bunch of free agents. Ask the Philadelphia Eagles how that worked out for them when they claimed they had the "Dream Team."

The Sonics have also opened up a season ticket waiting list, even though it isn't even official if the Kings are moving here. But if you really have a hankering for some Sonics stuff, get some gear here.

New Sounders Jersey

Tonight the Seattle Sounders FC revealed their new 2013-2014 kits. And I liked them.

The green kits was exactly as the leak, (we posted about that a few weeks ago), but the black kit is different.

While the leak is close, it's no where near as cool as the jersey that was revealed tonight. The stripe is in fact both Sounders colors, not just the green as originally leaked. While I'll always be a fan of the bright green jersey, the shale is pretty cool.

Here's what the Sounders press release said about the new kits:

The primary kit remains rave green and features a subtle silhouette of the Space Needle positioned vertically on the right chest.  The traditional adidas three stripes and trim are in Sounders blue. 
The secondary kit continues in cascade shale with the addition of a two inch vertical stripe which connects team colors through a mosaic design to emphasize the team’s unique and diverse fan base.  The adidas three stripes and trim are also in rave green.  Fans will notice a new lettering and numbering font for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.  This will be the first time the primary and secondary kits feature different patterns.

Seattle Sounders 2013 jerseys

Earlier tonight I posted about the 2013 Portland Timbers jersey. And since the Seattle Sounders and Timbers are bitter rivals I figured it was only fair to post about the 2013 Seattle Sounders jersey as well.

 Now it took a bit of digging on my part to uncover the Portland Timbers jersey. However, the Seattle Sounders actually leaked their jerseys on accident. Photos of players showed up on their website wearing new, never before seen jerseys.

The rumors started flying that these were the new jerseys (and shortly after this the Sounders website removed the photos).

So, here are the believed to be 2013 Seattle Sounders jerseys:



Now the jerseys seem nothing special and look pretty much like the first edition of the Seattle Sounders jersey. Main difference is those jerseys had white Adidas striping and these have what appear to be a baby blue color striping. Also these have some sort of strange swirl pattern on the right shoulders. But overall, not very exciting. And is it just me or is the Rave Green not so Rave anymore?

Leaked Seattle Sounders 2013 kits

The MLS season is just about here and the MLS still hasn't released the new designs for many of the teams. However, today a photo was leaked that perhaps shows the Seattle Sounders FC 2013 kits.

I think these are HUGE step up from the stupid bra strap kits of the last two seasons. But I like the solid green kits. I think the green and black should be switched on this design. Thoughts? Leave a comment!

Sounders off to best start ever

So the Sounders FC aren't exactly a storied franchise yet... they've been around for just a few years but believe it or not, they're off to the best start in team history.

For Sounders FC, it sounds like the recipe for a slow start to the MLS season. Instead, Seattle is 3-1-1 — the best record after five games in the franchise's young history — heading into a bye this weekend.

Surprisingly, the Sounders have done it using 19 different starters, tied with D.C. United for the most in the league. The Sounders have used a different starting lineup in each MLS game.

"That's an impressive stat," said defender Zach Scott, the unlikely hero in the 1-0 victory over Colorado on Saturday, "but you can see that from years past: The guys we've put in reserve games, the guys we've put in Open Cups, Champions League — this team is deep. The front office does a great job of finding guys who can start on other teams. Basically, we've got two starting groups."


Their defense has been incredible so far, and that's how you win soccer games. Much like baseball or football you're going to always run into games where you can't score. If you have a great defense, then when you have those games you still have a chance to win because the other team isn't scoring either. However, one thing the Sounders shouldn't do is sub in Brandon League in the latter stages of the game.

Sounders women draw big

Mix the Sounders brand, most of the US Nationals Women's team and the Pacific Northwest's rapid soccer fan base and you'll get 4,000 people to show up. In yet another example of why Seattle is a soccer mecca, the Sounders Women team got a big crowd in their first EXHIBITION of the season.

Energized fans on this invitingly warm night had to squeeze into whatever space they could find to watch Seattle's USWNT stars — goalkeeper Hope Solo, forwards Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux, and defender Stephanie Cox — whether it was along a crowded fence or on a grassy hill beside the packed bleachers.

Coach Michelle French called the atmosphere "absolutely incredible."

"I had heard how many people were going to come, but it's like one of those things where you invite people to a party — you never who's going to actually show up," French said. "I think every seat was filled. It exceeded my expectations. The chanting, the way they created an environment just like the men's game was awesome."

The attendance wasn't announced, but was estimated at about 4,000. To put that in perspective, the top-tier Women's Professional Soccer league averaged about 3,500 last season — and this was an exhibition.

Watch out Mariners, your season average attendance might get beaten by the Sounders Women.

What happened to our favorite sports teams last night...

Sounders get tie, when they really, really needed a win - The Western Conference is absolutely stacked this year and by tying a depleted DC United team, Seattle now sits in fifth place in their conference. They needed this victory to keep pace with the other good teams and while it's super early, Seattle doesn't want to stand pat or tumble too far in the standings. DC was missing its best defender and starting goalie but the Sounders got shutout for the second straight game. Looks like after an offensive explosion to begin the season, Seattle is going to have to change some things up - mainly don't pass it to a triple-teamed Freddy Montero every time and expect something to happen?

Seattle improves to 3-1 despite Felix's less than super awesome outing - Four runs Felix? Really? Say it aint so! Good thing the Mariners offense has looked impressive in their past two games. The M's won 8-7 despite blowing a 7-1 lead they had through four innings. Felix got the win, which is slightly funny because usually when he gives up a run he can forget about picking up a W. The M's bullpen also held up which seemed absolutely WILD to me. This win comes against the woeful Oakland Athletics and now the Mariners will test their mettle against the Texas Rangers.

Chiefs lose despite what appeared to be a buzzer-beater goal - It seemed Spokane had tied it up with a second to go but... nope. The goal was waived off and Tri-City evened up the semi-final WHL playoff series with a 2-1 victory. However, the good news is that the series comes back to the Chiefs home arena for the next two games. No doubt the atmosphere will be great in this Washington rivalry.

Josh Beckett gives up five home runs, Detroit beats Boston 10-0 - In other words, I need a drink. Apparently Beckett didn't lay off the KFC and beer in the offseason or something. I'm not mad, just bitter. An 80-win season is really going to suck.

Luke Hochevar delivers for the Royals - Casey's favorite baseball team actually had a pitcher and handled the $150 million payroll of the Anaheim Angels of Shorten Your Team Name Already. Luke Hochevar allowed just two runs in six innings and the Royals notched 12 hits in a 6-3 victory.

Roger Levesque's scuba dive

During the 4-2 Seattle Sounders FC victory over the New York Red Bulls on Thursday Roger Levesque had two goals.

The second he capped with a celebration called the "scuba dive."

Sounders have record crowd

According to Casey, they opened up all of Qwest Field... errr... CenturyLink Field for the Sounders game tonight and sold tickets for $10.

They did pretty well, they set a record crowd of 46,505 and downed the New York Red Bulls 4-2.

It was a thrilling game two as Seattle took the early 2-0 lead with two goals within a few seconds of one another.

New York would come back to tie it up but the Sounders scored in the 67th minute and 78th minute.
Seattle currently sits at third in the Western Conference of the MLS.

Emerald City Supporters display before the Sounders vs Timbers match

Before the Seattle Sounders FC MLS match against the Portland Timbers last night, the Emerald City Supporters group had an amazing display.

This display is called a "tifo."

Tifo was originally the Italian word for the phenomenon of supporting a sport team, is mostly used as a name for any spectacular choreography displayed by supporters on the terraces of an arena or stadium in connection with a sport event, mostly an association soccer match.

Tifos are most commonly seen in important matches, local derbies and rivalries

Sounders fans before we became part of the group

One of my friends who use to work in the Portland Timbers front office just sent me this photo of Sounders fans before they were in the MLS and before Casey and I became fans...

So if you're counting, that's a guy with an orca hat, two drunk guys, somebody who I can only imagine is on a sex offender poster somewhere and a hippie who made that "No Smoking" sign. Then Casey and I came along with our Seattle Sounders fandom...

And now look how many people have jumped on board because we make this look just so damn cool.

Any other teams want to sign us as free-agent fans?

Steve Zakuani breaks leg as Sounders win

The Seattle Sounders FC came away from the defending MLS Champions, the Colorado Rapids, with a 1-0 victory yesterday.

However the win came at a large cost.

In the 4th minute of play Steve Zakuani was taken out by Brian Mullan of Colorado. Mullan did get a red card for the hit.

MLS First Kick 2011

The Sounders have been members of the MLS for three years, and in each of those years they have brought in the new season of soccer by hosting the MLS First Kick. Relive the victories in 2009, and 2010 in this video mash-up.

MLS new conferences

With the MLS season starting on March 15, with Seattle Sounders FC hosting the L.A. Galaxy, many are wondering about the conferences now that Portland and Vancouver have joined the league.

The addition of Portland and Vancouver brings the league to 18 teams. The MLS wanted to have two conferences of nine teams.

Since the league currently had two conferences of eight teams someone would have to move to the East. Unless the league did something dumb like make Portland go to the East.

But thankfully the MLS decided to continue with the geography and send the furthest East team of the Western Conference to the East. That would be the Houston Dynamo.

Along with the new Conferences also comes a new play-off qualifying system for the league.

With 18 teams playing a balanced schedule, we will see the top three teams from each conference automatically qualify, followed by four wild-card teams regardless of conference.

However, the wild-card teams square off with a play-in game to reach the main field, where the survivor with the lowest seed will face the conference winner with the most regular-season points, and the higher-seeded wild-card team will play the opposite conference winner.

Now I'm not sure what will happen next season once Montreal joins the league. But we'll worry about that next year. For now, let's just hope the season get's started the right way in two weeks. With a Sounders FC victory!

Portland Timbers new jersey

Today was the unveiling of the Portland Timbers jersey.

I watched it online. It was a pretty neat little ceremony. Since Alaska Airlines is the sponsor, the event was held in the Alaska Airlines hanger.

The unveiling started by opening the hanger to showcase the new "Portland Timbers" painted jet for Alaska Airlines. The jet was then rolled in and the participants came off it.

Most of the gear is pretty standard. But the big item was to see what the jersey would look like.

Here it is:

The kit was completed by pairing with white shorts that had green stripes. It really is a nice color combination.

Not bad looking at all. And sadly, much better looking than the new "X-Men" Seattle Sounders FC jerseys.

Seattle Sounders FC open tryouts

The Seattle Sounders FC are holding open tryouts in January.

The Seattle Sounders FC will hold Open Tryouts on January 29-30, 2011, at the team’s training ground, the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington.

Tryouts will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Open tryouts are open to male soccer players ages 18 years and older.

Tryouts will feature small-sided as well as 11v11 games. Players will be assessed by members of the Sounders FC technical and coaching staffs, including Head Coach Sigi Schmid, General Manager Adrian Hanauer and Technical Director Chris Henderson.

The registration cost for each player is $125. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Registration fees will go directly to the Sounders FC Youth Academy program.

Perhaps the Northern Rangers should head out to Tukwila and see if we could make the team. But then again, we all remember how Brandon's tryout with the AFL's Spokane Shock went:

Portland Timbers 2011 jersey

Earlier this week I showed you a preview of the 2011 Seattle Sounders FC jersey.

Well tomorrow, December 9, the Sounders biggest rival, the Portland Timbers, will unveil their 2011 jerseys.

Seattle's other rivals, the Vancouver Whitecaps, showed off their new logo and jerseys earlier this fall. And I must say that I really like their logo. It's very sharp.

The jerseys on the other hand, are pretty plain and simple. But at least they don't have the dumb "X" pattern that the Sounders do now.

The Timbers jersey sponsor will be Alaska Airlines. While the Whitecaps jersey sponsor is Bell Communications.

Seattle Sounders FC 2011 kits

I cruising through the MLS blog when I came upon a post about the new 2011 team kits for the Seattle Sounders.

And what I found was disgusting.

At first I really liked the new "away" kit. Instead of the blue of the past two seasons, it's a "shale" gray and looked sharp. To start with.

Then I noticed those strange silver lines that ran down the shoulders and into the armpits. I thought these lines were pretty tacky looking. Then I scrolled down more and saw the back of the jerseys.

YUCK!

What is up with those silver lines?!?!

They look like a gun holster. Or maybe a bad X-men uniform.

Terrible Sounders. Terrible.
