Seattle Sounders FC 2011 kits

I cruising through the MLS blog when I came upon a post about the new 2011 team kits for the Seattle Sounders.

And what I found was disgusting.

At first I really liked the new "away" kit. Instead of the blue of the past two seasons, it's a "shale" gray and looked sharp. To start with.

Then I noticed those strange silver lines that ran down the shoulders and into the armpits. I thought these lines were pretty tacky looking. Then I scrolled down more and saw the back of the jerseys.

YUCK!

What is up with those silver lines?!?!

They look like a gun holster. Or maybe a bad X-men uniform.

Terrible Sounders. Terrible.

Singapore Polo Team's trunks

The Singapore water polo team is wearing some questionable uniforms the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.

Let's just say it's an interesting rendition of the Singapore flag.


The trunks were designed by the team and evidently the crescent moon was supposed to be placed more on the thigh. But instead, it jets straight up from the groin.

And to top it off, the rules indicate that uniforms cannot be changed so the team must continue to wear these for the rest of the event.

Uniforms that Casey also likes

Scroll down on this blog and you'll see Casey is freaking out over the Seahawks wearing their bright green jerseys tomorrow (sigh, what a disaster). While I think the Sounders look good in the Rave green jerseys for soccer, these kind of super bright colors don't belong on a football field.

I know I'm not the only one that hates the bright greens, and I know Casey is the only one that likes them... because he likes these uniforms too...







I rest my case.

Oh boy, we're trying to bring back the 70s.

TAMPA - After 12 years in orange mothballs, Bucco Bruce came out of the closet Friday. At the end of a 15-minute news conference at the team facility, four current Buccaneer players modeled the 1976 throwback uniforms Tampa Bay will wear Nov. 8 against the Green Bay Packers at Raymond James Stadium. "People thought we were trying to lock our history away in a closet,'' said Bucs co-chairman Ed Glazer. "It's time to bring it back. I think now it's kind of cool to wear these -- and that wasn't always the case.''

This sounds like the worst idea ever. Not only were the Bucs unis tough to look at, but they were absolutely terrible in 1976 (winless, actually). In other news, Casey and I will be wearing our suits from the 1976 season (back when JustSON was on 8-track)...

Is this what you want Seahawk fans?

A lot of Seahawk fans (including one Casey Knopik) have been talking about the alternative bright green jerseys that the team store sells being used in an actual game.

I would ask you to please look to the right and take a gander at this bright green jersey.

Sometimes Seahawks fans really disappoint me with their judgment calls. Not since the time a grown man rationalized the well below .500 Seattle Seahawks making the Super Bowl at about Week 12 last season have I been this doubtful of the fan base.

Now if they sign Ken Griffey Jr. to play running back...

Why the Hawks green is great

While cruising around the Internet today, I came across this post by Paul Lucas of UniWatch. Back in January of 2008 Lucas wrote about how the city of Seattle had fallen in love with the lime green color of the Seahawks.

He said, "I also don’t get the Seahawks’ combination of steel blue and neon snot."

And to him I had to say (in my head of course) now hold on a second buddy. Neon snot? More like neon awesome.

I personally thought it was really neat when the 12th man began to adore the lime green in the color scheme of the Hawks. The green was originally used only for the eye of the Hawk logo, and for some pin stripping accents on the jerseys and pants.

Then the receivers caught on to the appeal of the color. And soon all of them were wearing bright, neon lime green gloves.

Next following was the defense. Who strode out onto Qwest Field one afternoon wearing lime green accented shoes.

Soon Matt Hasselbeck was wearing a lime green hat on the sidelines, and a number of players were putting their shoes on with lime green laces.

The 12th man loved it. And slowly the sea of only blue in the stands became speckled with the green. Green hats, gloves, shirts and hair.

While looking up the pictures of the Seahawks green, I came across this jersey. A green jersey. It was amazing. So much so that I knew I had to have it. I know some will say that it is ugly, or that it isn't the real jersey. But I think it is really neat and original. Plus it is better than these uniforms of the Texans right?

And while I love the green. It's good, but not great. After all, it's no powder blue. Now those are some sweet jerseys.
