Casey's guide to surviving a zombie invasion

Perhaps you've seen Casey's videos "The Northern Rangers" where he goes around doing amazing hikes, bike rides and even a little spelunking. While thats all fine and dandy, he forgot to convert his plan of surviving a zombie invasion to video.

You see, Casey plans for everything, including the the rising of the undead.

Step 1 - Do away with zombie fiancee. (She was actually a zombie before the invasion started)

Step 2 - Gather Supplies... Shotguns. Flares. A large assortment of sharp things. A can of Raid. Google Phone. Windows Vista. A copy of Season 1 of How I Met Your Mother. Bible. Holy Water. More Shotguns. Dynamite. Portable NES.

Step 3 - Find a suitable fortress to fight against the Zombie Invasion.

(That will totally do. AWESOME....)

Step 4 - Do away with lifeless corpses in the stadium that could potentially turn into zombies...

Step 5 - Recruit group of zombie-fighting survivors...

1. Bill O'Reilly - because who would want to eat his brains?
2. Mike Tyson - he's accustomed to things that bite human flesh.
3. Randy Johnson - did you see what he did to that bird?
4. Jenna Jamison - she knows a thing or two about handling stiff, scary looking things.
5. Paul Wulff - he's been dealing with zombies the entire football season.

Step 6 - Wait for this guy to kill all the zombies...

Epic Video: Brandon?

I'm pretty sure this is Brandon from last year's Halloween party.

Umm.....yeah.

A great article from the TNT

I read this article today in the Tacoma News Tribune. If you have a minute check it out, it is well worth the read.

Tacoma man's dream may finally see life afloat

Marge Simpson in playboy

The Simpsons are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. And to celebrate, Marge is taking it all off.

Seriously.

I heard this on the radio this afternoon and thought it was a joke. But nope:

Sources tell E! Online's Mark Malkin today that Marge Simpson, that blue-haired bundle of pent-up sexual energy, will be naked on the November cover of Playboy magazine to mark the 20th anniversary of "The Simpsons."

This is something that Hugh Hefner had teased Twitter followers in August. "Marge Simpson has a surprise for her fans in the November issue of Playboy," he tweeted.

Marge will apparently get her own three-page pictorial inside, though there will still be a human Playmate featured in the issue, too.

Oh gosh. What is this world coming too?

Baseball fans are more money-grubbing than the players

After listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio this morning spar with words against Joe Blow American over this Ryan Howard/Phillies lawsuit, it makes me think that this country is just full of a bunch of overweight losers looking for the best way to make money quick.

When 12-year-old Jennifer Valdivia caught the Philadelphia Phillies' Ryan Howard's 200th career home run earlier this summer, it sparked a legal battle. The Phillies approached the girl immediately after her catch, and traded it for a signed, regular ball. Her attorney, Norm Kent, sued Monday for Valdivia to get back the original ball. By Monday afternoon, the ball was hers again. Kent shares the story.

Cowherd took the viewpoint that basically players don't like fans for this reason... many are just looking to profit from them. After hearing call after call from people complaining saying "Oh that ball could put my kids through college" or "I'm a truck driver and I need the money" ... I've come to the conclusion that Americans are morons.

They actually view going to a baseball game as a capitalist venture. I've seen this first hand with jock sniffers hanging around the Spokane Indians ballpark trying to sell guy's first professional home run ball at a significant markup. Or stealing bats from the RACKS IN THE DUGOUT and selling them online. No joke, these are the kind of people that go to baseball games.

Cowherd further went on saying that if he were a professional athlete he wouldn't sign any autographs for people over the age of 30. Why? Cause they're going to take that ball and make a profit.

People went crazy. "It's our right!" "It's capitalism!" "Those players make millions of dollars, what does it matter to them that I profit off of them!"

If you seriously plan on making something of a living or any financial game by leeching off of professional athletes, I really feel you should be just locked in your mom's basement. There are some serious issues with the priorities of people if they see this as a way to make financial gains.

Back to the Howard story. That ball means something to Howard. The girl GAVE THE BALL BACK TO HIM. And all of a sudden there's a lawsuit (probably by her parents. Not sure how many 12-year olds file lawsuits). Now this ball probably is not going to fetch a whole lot of money on the open market, because the only real big money balls are things like Bonds milestone home runs or something that has to do with Mark McGwire. This is a case where the ball means more to the ballplayer than the kid who would probably lose it in the yard a few weeks later. The kid gave it back, Phillies actually treated her very nicely and then her parents though they might profit off a lawsuit.

Disgusting. You people make me sick. Go back to Walmart where you buy stuff, use it and then return it in 30 days.

Pigs.

Breaking News! Tim Tebow is doing fine

All you Florida Gator fans out there might be slightly worried about Tim Tebow starting this weekend. No worries, even though Urban Meyer has said that it will be a game day decision, he also said that Tebow looks better than he's ever see him.

Since we're pretty powerful here at Just South of North, here's an exclusive first photo of Tim Tebow this week preparing for the game...

Hooray! Don't be worried at all Gators fans!

Epic Photo: Perhaps they should have just lost to the Tigers

You beat the Detroit Tigers in a thrilling tie-breaker game and then lose the first playoff game to the Yankees 7-2? Surely, you would want to do better than that against the Evil Empire! I'm slightly terrified now.

Twins... Don't give the Yankees any sort of momentum in the playoffs because you've seen the results... large, ham sandwich eating men with XXXXL Derek Jeter jerseys suddenly walking around with a little more pep in their step.

New Ring detected around Saturn

We all know Saturn has rings. Well apparently, they found an new ring, this one being the biggest in the solar system in terms of planetary rings. Jupiter must be jealous.

An enormous halo of dust that circles Saturn and dwarfs its more familiar rings has been discovered by astronomers.

The ring, the largest in the solar system, surrounds the planet from a distance of 8m miles, about 50 times further out than the others.

It is also unusual in that it wraps the planet at an angle of roughly 27 degrees, while the planet's other rings surround the equator.

Anne Verbiscer, research scientist at the University of Virginia, said that if the ring were visible from Earth, it would be twice the size of the full moon.

"There's nothing else like it in the solar system. You could fit a billion Earths inside it," she said.

While Saturn's regular rings are only metres thick, the new one is around 1.55m miles thick.

Much like Americans, the waistline of Saturn seems to be expanding...

Are you ready for the baseball playoffs?

Will CC Sabathia have more wins than Burger King Quads eaten?

Will the Red Sox show more personality than the Sunday comic Dilbert?

Will the Metrodome collapse in on itself as it's officially become the black hole of sports where no major professional sports league can escape it's influence. Can we host the NBA Finals there just to ensue that it goes out with a bang as if Favre beating the Packers and a tie-breaker game wasn't enough?

Is Manny lactating again?

How many "Here come the Rockies!" articles will be written before they're swept by the Phillies in the playoffs?

Find out, because the MLB playoffs start today!

(A warning to everyone that knows me. You will probably not see me out in public as I'll be firmly planted on my couch for the next few weeks)

Photos from last night's epic baseball game

So Minnesota beat Detroit 5-6 in a one-game tiebreaker for the AL Central Division title and a crack at the seemingly invincible New York Yankees. Here are some pictures from that epic battle last night...

I don't mean to be gross here, but I'm pretty sure this is the exact same thing that groupies see at the end of the night.

What do you mean I'm not playing in the World Cup?

"RAWWWRRR!!! Haha scared you! That's what I do. Because I'm big. And scary."

"Man this Riverdance thing really sucks"

"Well now that everyone left, I'll just sprawl out here and take a nap. Times are tough and I just live in the MetroDome now. Has an excellent big screen television"

Many hefty bags were killed in the making of this dome.

"What a minute... you're not Brett Favre... DAMMIT!"

What wasn't caught after this photo was him curling up in a ball, sucking his thumb and refusing to leave the playing field until he was given his orange slices and Capri Sun.

"So I paid this guy 20 bucks to carry me around. Yeah, these unemployed people are all around the place just looking for jobs. They'll do anything."

"Oh Sh**! Hold on guys, I lost a contact. Crap! Nobody move. I lost a contact..."

"Ha! You think you can beat me in this handshake contest. Think again. Your about to give up. You're wincing! You're wincing! Give up? Awww, nooo? Okay we're still going..."

EWU to experience Husky Snobs

Good news Eagle fans, EWU will go down in history as the first FCS team to play the University of Washington in football.

The Huskies announced Tuesday they are canceling a future home-and-home football series with BYU and added Eastern Washington, a Football Championship Subdivision team, to their schedule in 2011. It will be the first time in school history the Huskies will play a team from the FCS.

Never playing a lower-level team has been a traditional source of pride for Washington and is included in its weekly football notes. But the streak is finally being broken.

“It was a great sense of pride that we haven’t had to do that,” Washington athletic director Scott Woodward said. “But the SEC and the upper-tier Big 12 teams have been running (up) the cost of the lower Division I-A schools so much that it’s gotten to be cost prohibitive. If you can schedule a team that is very competitive like Eastern Washington or Portland State it makes more economic sense.”

Boy the Huskies just can't get over themselves can't they. Even in a press release you get a backhanded remark by AD Scott Woodward. By the way that's a load of bull. They're trying to make good with the alumni, when in fact, UW is scheduling EWU because it's an easy win. They can't guarantee a win anymore with schools like BYU and even Idaho. The current state of UW football is that of the lower half of FBS college football, easy. Blaming the SEC and the Big 12 is just ridiculous.

Anyways, who's ready for Jeff Minnerly vs. Joe Montana's kid?

You might be a redneck if you go "Noodling"

I just heard about this today, and immediately I thought that "Noodling" was perhaps the dumbest idea ever.

Noodling is fishing for catfish using only bare hands, practiced primarily in the southern United States. Many other names, such as catfisting, grabbling, graveling, hogging, dogging, gurgling, tickling and stumping, are used in different regions for the same activity. Noodling is currently legal in eleven of the United States.[1]

The term "noodling", although today used primarily towards the capture of flathead catfish, can and has been applied to all hand fishing methods, regardless of the method or species of fish sought. Noodling as a term has also been applied to various unconventional methods of fishing, such as any which do not use bait, rod & reel, speargun, etc., but this usage is much less common.

Sure it seems manly, but look at the dangers that accompany the "sport" ...

Noodling can result in superficial cuts and minor wounds to the noodler. This can be reduced by wearing gloves and other protective clothing. Losing fingers is also a risk, whether from the bite or infection. Most holes are deep enough that diving is needed, so there can be a danger of drowning. A person with confident swimming abilities may be caught off guard by the sudden added strain of carrying a large fish to the surface. Spotters can alleviate this danger, but it is still present. A wounded noodler ten to twenty feet underwater might not be able to return safely to the surface, and drown. Clothes may get tangled or snagged on roots or rocks, so some noodlers wear only shorts.

The largest danger posed to noodlers are other forms of aquatic life found in catfish holes. Far more dangerous than catfish are alligators, snakes, beavers, muskrats and snapping turtles, who will take over abandoned catfish holes as homes of their own.

You know, the South and America in general is not doing a whole lot to dispell the myth that they're backwater and unsophisticated. You think you'd see someone in England do this? No because the food is terrible in England.

Casey, I think I smell an Northern Rangers...

WSU makes ESPN Commercial

Saw this on Huckleberries.

Alright, EWU alumni, when are our Eagles going to make a commercial? I'm thinking a Rodney Stuckey "This is SportsCenter" commercial. You know it's coming...

Reasons why you're still single... biker guy

You're a biker guy that passes cars just to be first in line at the stoplight on your Suzuki hunk of crap.

Problem is, you're wearing a "Harley Davidson Forever" shirt, along with a glittery helmet and pajama pants.

Yikes, and then you looked over at a car full of high school girls and gave them the business with your eyes as you sped off.

Favre vs. the Packers Epic Game Log

Since this was the biggest game ever played in the history of the NFL (according the ESPN) and will be remembered for years to come by the children of our children (or until next week), I decided to game log it. Please keep in mind I missed the first five minutes because I was picking up dinner at Arbys and they were handing out free samples meaning that every person above the age of 60 was leaching off the spoils of a crappy economy.

5:58 -
I find it kind of ironic the Minnesota Vikings are sporting the throwback jerseys, and had the Favre been drafted by Vikings, he probably would have worn these jerseys.

(The Packers had throwback jerseys on too but nobody noticed because they haven't changed their jerseys since 1956)

6:01 -
Signs that Brett Favre is your quarterback - you're going for it on fourth down in the first quarter.

6:03 -
TOUCHDOWN FAVRE!

6:09 -
TOUCHDOWN RODGERS! He's not kidding folks, he's come here to prove that even though he's the dopiest looking quarterback since Kerry Collin, he's not as bad as Kerry Collins.

6:15 -
Why did the equipment manager get Favre a XXXL jersey that hangs at his knees? Is it kind of like since you're old you get a pass when you walk around the neighborhood in nothing but underwear.

6:24 - Love Minnesota fans, they packed the Metrodome and have been loud the entire time. They deserve a game like this.

6:27 - INT by Rodgers, he learned it from the best of them.

6:35 - Most terrifying sight for Packers fans - Brett Favre with feet set rifling a ball down field. The alternative - a run by Adrian Peterson. Yeah, not a good night for Green Bay.

6:39 - TOUCHDOWN FAVRE! 14-7 and then he gives a patented fist pump followed by a cut to a fan that looks to be either an extra from Conan the Barbarian or Brad Childress' brother that was raised in the wilderness.

6:47 - Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy was just compared by the MNF booth to Marty Shottenhiemer. So in a game where Brett Favre is lighting up the scoreboard, the Packers' coach is compared to one of the most conservative coaches in NFL history. Not a good night.

6:50 - The Packers' Clay Matthews strips the ball and ran it back for a TD and throws it into the Minnesota crowd as an extra little FU for the crowd.

HALFTIME - and for an old fart like me, that means nap time.

7:24 -
What does Green Bay need to do to stop Brett Favre? Stop the government from mailing his social security checks.

7:29 - Favre got so much time in the pocket, they cut to commercial and came back an he was still looking at his check-down options. He promptly scores for the Vikings and the Green Bay Police are officially driving around town looking for jumpers.

7:49 -
Packers get stuffed in a goal-line stand, and now are officially in "Oh CRAP Mode!"

Now going the other way, Green Bay's new defensive scheme is "let the opposing team do whatever they want."

8:14 -
Easy Jon Gruden, don't strain yourself praising Brett Favre.

8:19 -
After getting sacked for a safety, and the Packers having throw the red flag just to get the safety instead of a fumble at the goaline, I think we can officially say they're having a bad night.

8:48 - That photo above is of Jared Allen, he likes to eat a lot. Mainly NFL QBs and probably a couple of small bears that stray to far from the wilderness.

8:51 -
Packers do manage to make it a close 30-23 game, but the great onside kick is nullified by the fact that Green Bay couldn't make a clutch play to save its life.

"Brett Favre has beaten ever team in the NFL, the only player in history to do it" was said roughly 340 times during the post-game show.

8:53 - Akward hug moment between Favre and Donald Driver where Favre basically crushes Driver against his facemask. A little too emotional there bud.

8:55 -
I'd like to close with saying that why the heck would Brett Favre want to retire? We all demonize him but No. 4 would be sitting on the couch right now if he had. Instead, he's on the top of the football world right now at 4-0.

Epic Video: Dumb Bear fans burn Favre jersey

Just a warning to everyone, I'll be doing a running log of the Vikings-Packers game tonight which should be the most anticipated Monday Night Football game ever. In honor, I've posted this video of Bears fans burning a Brett Favre jersey.

Regardless of what you think about Favre, I'm sure we can take two things away from this video

(1) Bears fans are dumb asses.

(2) The insult of burning jerseys has become the American equivalent of burning flags. Wonderful, can we beat the soles of our shoes against Al Davis next?

The Dead Sea is dying

If you need a first-hand example on how humans can affect their surrounding enviroment, check out the alarming case of Israel's Dead Sea. With more and more people taping into the sea's water sources, the shorelines and water aquifers are retreating at an alarming rate, creating dangerous conditions.

Up and down the Dead Sea, on the Jordanian and Israeli coasts, the shoreline is pockmarked by these sinkholes—testifying to an environmental catastrophe. The Dead Sea is shrinking, and as it recedes, the fresh water aquifers along the perimeter of the lake are receding along with it. As this fresh water diffuses into salt deposits beneath the surface of the shoreline, the water slowly dissolves the deposits until the earth above collapses without warning. More than 1,000 sinkholes have appeared in the past 15 years. In that time, sinkholes have swallowed a portion of road, date-palm fields and several buildings on the sea’s northwest coast. Environmental experts believe that hotels along the shore are also in danger. “The good news is that if you get swallowed by a sinkhole, they name it after you,” Bromberg deadpans.

...It needs an infusion of 160 billion gallons of water annually to maintain its current size; it gets barely 10 percent of that. Some 50 miles long in 1950, the sea is about 30 miles long today. Water levels are falling at an average rate of three feet per year. Pumping stations in Israel and in other countries are basically sucking the thing dry and while experts say the sea will recede until an equilibrium is found - I'm wondering if this is yet another example of how drinking water is becoming more and more sparse on Earth.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go water my lawn.

Epic Photo: Ladies and gentlemen, the Washington Redskins

Thank you, Deadspin.

Things I learned during Week 4 of the NFL

- Seneca Wallace is not the quarterback of the future. Unless the world is about to end, than that would almost be fitting.

- Apparently when your quarterback throws for 128 yards and has a rating of 48.5, you're the Oakland Raiders. And you just lost another game.

- The Bengals apparently think this is the 1980s and are now 3-1. Cincinnati fans haven't been this excited since before Carson Palmer's knee was reduced to goo in the playoffs.

- Peyton Manning is on pace to become the first NFL quarterback to throw for more yards than the distance between the Earth and the Moon. Joey Harrington is still working on the distance between his couch on his refrigerator.

- Don't count this man out. DON'T EVER COUNT THIS MAN OUT. When he's buried six feet under the ground, cornerbacks for teams playing against the Patriots should be worried how they're going to utilize Wes Welker Jr.

- The Washington Redskins haven't officially started the season until they get booed three separate times at home in a win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

- I'm discovering new pains, as the Tennessee Titans are 0-4 and I'm seriously thinking about when they're going to let Vince Young start and how Sam Bradford looks in blue.

- The Saints are the best team in the NFL right now. Drew Brees is also apparently trying to copy every mannerism of Steve Nash. I smell "Single White Female" similarities, but more in the same line as "Single White Unathletic Looking Athlete that's actually freakin' amazin"

- Mark Sanchez is actually human. Or at least I hope so otherwise the machines are starting to take over and we're all royally screwed.

- The Broncos are 4-0 and suddenly Kyle Orton is going to become the most eligible Steve Buscemi look alike.

- The 49ers decided to hold a team scrimmage against some street bums in St. Louis uniforms.

Northern Rangers: Tolt McDonald Park

Note: We shot this on Thursday, but thanks to a power outage that night, and a busy weekend, sorry for the delay in getting this up.)

Location: Carnation, Washington

Trail Description:

The area is covered in singletrack trails with manageable hills. The main trail starts directly across the Tolt river from the parking area. Cross the bridge and then head up the really big hill. After about one mile the trail levels off. The first accent is pretty difficult. Once you get to the top, there are tons of winding trails. Make sure to bring a map or else you're almost certainly going to get lost.

How to get there:

From Seattle, drive East on I-90 to exit #22 and turn left towards Fall City. From Fall City, drive North on Hwy 203. You will cross a bridge and enter Carnation. Start look for the entrance to Tolt-McDonald Park on the left, across from the middle school. Follow the park's road to the parking lot at the end.

Colts fans are nothing but class

During today's game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts, it was a homecoming for Edgerrin James. James spent seven years with the Colts and was a pillar of the rebuilding of the team.

He is the Colts all time rushing leader and is the NFL active rusher at 9226 yards before the game.

His first carry came during the 2nd quarter of the game and in fact, that was his 3,000 career carry.

And what do the sell-out crowd in Lucas Oil Stadium do? The Colt faithful give him a standing ovation. The camera cut to James, and he was sporting his usual grin. It had to feel good to know that these people, where you worked in front of them to build your legacy, still support you. No matter what uniform you wear.

Nice work Colt fans. Very classy.

Top 25 For Week 5 in College Football

The Broncos are getting nicked for scheduling horrible teams in their non-conference slate. Boise State defeated FCS opponent UC-Davis, but dropped in the rankings from #5 to #6 in the nation. Virginia Tech jumped up to replace them.

Keep an eye on those other undefeated teams in the poll, and remember that those SEC teams at the top will have to play one another meaning somebody is dropping out of the top-five regardless of an upset or not.

(I have to say I was disappointed to see that Idaho was not receiving votes in the Top 25 poll despite being 4-1)

College Football Rundown... it's not pretty

Washington St. 6, #16 Oregon 52 - The Jeff Tuel era at quarterback lasted all two snaps before he was sandwiched in a sack and was taken out of the game. Yep, building for the future.

UC Davis 16, #5 Boise State 34 - Don't you hate when these big schools schedule FCS cupcakes and still expect to make it to the national championship game. How disgusting! And then the voters don't give the smaller schools a chance to compete. Oh wait, Boise State isn't in a BCS conference? Their non-conference schedule consists of Oregon and some random schools with funny mascots? Oh brother... the WAC is sure making a case for their league champion to get a bid in the big bowl games. :P

#6 Virginia Tech 34, Duke 26 - Does anyone else think that with budgets getting cut back it's nothing short of a miracle that Duke still has a football team?

#7 USC 30, #24 Cal 3 - A note to the Bears... WSU scored more points on USC than you did, and held the Trojans to fewer points. The same WSU that couldn't beat their own dance team in a game of flag football.

#8 Oklahoma 20, #17 Miami 21 - In other news, Sam Bradford will wear a "FML" decal on his helmet for the rest of the season after realizing that he passed up millions of dollars in the NFL to get injured and not compete for a national championship.

#9 Ohio State 33, Indiana 14- See? The Buckeyes can beat anyone as long as it's not in a bowl game, or it's against USC.

#22 Michigan 20, Michigan St. 26 - Sparta fans have what we can WSU-UW syndrome. As long as they beat Michigan, the season is a sucess.

Colorado St. 29, Idaho 31- The power of Rob Akey compels you! The power of Rob Akey compels you!

Washington 30, Notre Dame 37 - Watching Charlie Weis actually cause a rain shadow in his wake was impressive. Usually that's reserved for mountain ranges and coaches that have won a meaningful game when it counts.

EWU football destroys Idaho State. But what about the NCAA?

Today the Eastern Washington Eagles went into Pocatello, Idaho and left with a 38-3 victory over the Idaho State Bengals and a 3-0 start in Big Sky Conference play.

It was another big game for Taiwan Jones. He threaded the Bengals defense for 168 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries.

Quarterback Matt Nichols completed 27-of-38 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns.

Before the start of the game, EWU was ranked 17th in the Football Championship Subdivision. Which leads us here at JustSON asking, where does Eastern stand on their appeal of the NCAA playoff ban?

WE HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING IN TOO LONG!!!

From a letter to all Eagle fans in August 2009, Athletic Director Bill Chaves had this to say:

A number of you have asked me about the status of our appeal with the NCAA regarding the postseason play in football for the 2009 season. The Appeals Committee has invited us to Indianapolis on August 17th to hear our appeal. As for the process/decision timetable, we have yet to receive that information.

Well, even not knowing their future, the Eagles are still fighting.

The Eastern football team will try to start 4-0 in Big Sky play for the first time in school history when they host defending league co-champion Weber State next Saturday, Oct. 10. The Wildcats were ranked 11th before today's game, however, they were upset at home by Montana State 26-21 today.

Erin Andrews peephole pervert is arrested

They found that creep that made the dream of every male from the age of 18-45 by shooting nude video footage of ESPN sideline princess Erin Andrews through her hotel peephole. Yes, apparently taking naked footage of someone without their permission is illegal.

According to an AP report, Michael David Barrett, 48, of Westmont, Illinois, was arrested late on Friday night at O'Hare International Airport. Earlier in the day he was named in a federal criminal complaint in Los Angeles that did not mention Andrews by name, but did reference an on-air ESPN personality. The man was tracked down via an email sent to TMZ, allegedly offering to sell them video of a nude Andrews filmed surreptitiously in her hotel room.

After being the journalist that I am and trying to find the Erin Andrews video, I can say that ESPN has done a CIA-esque job of making that footage disappear from the face of the earth. Say what you will about the World Wide Leader but I respect them for the way they stepped up to bat for Erin Andrews. While most people just thought the whole story was hilarious and tried to youtube it, ESPN went into ulta-protective mode and got in other media sources faces if they tried to run even a part of the footage.

With that said, I wonder if that guys to go to jail he'll be known as the "Erin Andrews guy." Think he gets an extra heaping of food during lunch time and a pat on the back? (I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying this is how guys act)

I think I have a phone call to make.

Blazers 2.0

While the zombie Sonics are "allegedly" one of the most talented young teams in the NBA, the nearby Portland Trailblazers are probably the most talented young teams in the league. After jumping ship (well call it getting dumped by the Sonics/Thunder) and getting on the Trailwagon, this should be a fun season of basketball... the Blazers are going to compete for the best record in the West while Oklahoma City maybe gets a playoff spot.

Portland won 54 games last season, gave the Lakers as many problems as anyone in the West and has more young talent than any Western contender. These are inarguable facts. Equally salient is that they lost in the first round of the playoffs to Houston, a defeat they blame on their lack of playoff experience.

Thus, one can see the danger in extrapolating from Portland's 2008-09 regular season by having the Blazers anoint themselves championship hopefuls and worthy rivals to L.A. -- um, shouldn't they win a series first?

So on Monday, the Blazers came out in humble mode, with an answer for their season goal that seemed more scripted than a political talking point: "Win the division."

You had to be there to believe it. It wasn't one person or a couple of people saying this; it was everybody, from general manager Kevin Pritchard to coach Nate McMillan (both of whom talked with the media last Wednesday) to the deepest reserves. There was no ambiguity at all, no stuttering looking for the right words. Regardless of who talked, every single question about goals for this season met an immediate response of "win the division."

How about you guys do this... win the division and blow out Oklahoma City/Zombie Sonics every chance you get. I wouldn't mind a brawl going into the stands in OKC either, if there's fans still going to those games after the economy took a dump.

New EWU Jerseys made by me!

With Casey coming up with some EWU replica jerseys (so very good ones in fact - scroll down on the blog to see them) I have decided also to make my own EWU replica jerseys. Using my ginger intuition, the resources available to me in Spokane and roughly four Jack and Cokes ...

HERE IS THE RESULT!

A spitting image huh? You'd rather have my EWU replica jersey than Casey's right?

We're sending clowns into space now

Space travel is no joke, unless you're the Russian Space Program, and you need the money, and the rich founder of a circus wants to go up to the International Space Station.

MONTREAL (AFP) – Cirque du Soleil's founder, who will soon rocket into space, went from pauper to circus mogul by turning a troupe of ragtag street performers in 1984 into a global entertainment empire.

At 0714 GMT Wednesday, Canadian Guy Laliberte will celebrate his recent 50th birthday by becoming the seventh space tourist to rocket from Baikonur, Kazakhstan to the International Space Station for a 12-day "poetic, social mission."

Near the end of his 35-million-dollar trip, on October 9, he will direct a "planetary artistic event" in 14 cities on five continents.

The social dimension will be represented by his One Drop foundation, which works to improve access to water resources and to raise awareness of water-related issues.

"I've been introduced in a number of different ways in the past -- as a fire-eater, an artist, an entrepreneur, an entertainer, and I have to admit that (now) being introduced as a space explorer is quite something for me," he told a news conference in June.

"I am profoundly touched by this," he said, recalling a television interview during the Cirque's early years in which he quipped: "One day I hope I can take the Cirque du Soleil into space."

This guy likes to play practical jokes - which could be a problem if he puts one of those exploding cans of fake snakes in someone's space suit.
