Dancing With The Stars
ABC recently announced the lineup for their new season of Dancing With The Stars. Now I'll admit it, I don't watch the show. But a certain female friend of mine never misses an episode. And this season I was informed by my Aunt that a distant relative of mine will be on the show.
No, not Steve-O (thank god). I'm talking about Steve Wozniak. Think you've never heard of him? Think again. Does the brand Apple ring a bell? Yeah, he was a co-founder of the company.
Now before I jump too far into this post, I'll explain how I am related to Steve. If I have my facts correct, my great grandmother was a cousin to Steve's grandfather. For those of you who are counting how far removed we are, he's my fourth cousin. Yeah, I said distant. I just didn't say how distant.
Anyway, here's what the ABC bio says about Steve:
A Silicon Valley icon and philanthropist for the past three decades, Steve Wozniak, a.k.a. "The Woz," helped shape the computer industry with his design of Apple's first line of products, the Apple I and II, and influenced the popular Macintosh. After leaving Apple Computer Inc. in 1985, Wozniak was involved in various business and philanthropic ventures, focusing primarily on computer capabilities in schools and stressing hands-on learning and encouraging creativity for students. In 2000, he was inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame and was awarded the prestigious Heinz Award for Technology, The Economy and Employment. Wozniak is also a published author with the release of his New York Times Best Selling autobiography, iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon, in September 2006.
Oh, and at 58 he's the oldest of the new dancer lineup. Well, Steve, good luck from your fourth cousin. Or something like that.
