The weather on the westside of Washington has been amazing all week, so today I decided I needed to get out and enjoy it. Yes, it was time for the first hike of 2009. Well, first outside hike of 2009. I'd been "hiking" on the good ol' stairstep machine all winter.
Jeff (from the bullpen) and I had it all planned out. We would get to the trailhead around 3 p.m. after work and that should give us plenty of time before the sun set at 5:27. Little did we know that road to trail we were planning to hike was washed out. That put a kink in our plans.
We decided to just hike along the Preston-Snoqualmie trail instead. Needless to say, the paved trail was not the hike we had in mind that morning. But it was a hike none the less. And it felt great to get outside for a few hours. We added a the first "real" miles of our training for the Wonderland Trail. Now hopefully I haven't jinxed the weather by posting this blog.
Oh, and I got some new hiking pants. They worked great.
I love hiking!
