The winner of the Seattle Prep/Lakes game has got their hands full in the 2nd round of the Boys 3A Washington State Basketball Tournament. The reason being is that they will face the nearly (25-1) unbeaten, and #1 ranked, Franklin High School Quakers. Franklin beat #5 Shadle Park 67-42 and it wasn't even that close as you could tell the Quakers definitely took their foot off of the gas in the second half. At intermission it was 42-15 in favor of Franklin. The Quakers made it look easy even without much scoring help (10 points) from McDonald's All-American, and Louisville Cardinal (#*$%!!) bound, Peyton Siva. Siva did hand out 6 assists though.
In this game Franklin was led by junior Vonchae Richardson, who led all scorers with 24 points. Richardson hit 6 of 9 from long range and looked on pace to break the 3A State Tournament record of 9 made three pointers as he made all 6 in the first half. Perhaps if the game had been closer he may have had the chance.
Unfortunately for the rest of the field this Franklin team looks nearly untouchable.
You're right, Franklin could be the best team in the state period 4A-3A. Also, why the heck does FSN keep playing the 4A Championship Game over and over and over again. Don't they have some old Mariner games they could play.
