Everybody thought Ryan Leaf had settled down after being one of the biggest busts in NFL history. He had a coaching job at West Texas A&M. He had put pro football behind him. Things were good right?
Nope, apparently he was addicted to pain meds and has since been sentanced to 10 years probation.
AMARILLO, Texas (AP)—Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf has been sentenced to 10 years of probation after pleading guilty to eight felony drug charges in Texas.
State District Judge John B. Board sentenced Leaf on Wednesday in Amarillo. Leaf also was fined $20,000. He pleaded guilty to seven counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and one count of delivery of a simulated controlled substance.
Speaking to reporters after the hearing, Leaf said he knew he “had a problem” even as he continued to use prescription pain medication.
I have a feeling that the Ryan Leaf SportsCentury may have been the greatest hour in ESPN history if they had kept doing that show.
