Reasons why you're still single

You actually believe all those McCain-Obama election polls that ask 3,000 people who they're going to vote for.

3,000 -- 300 million people... yeah there's a pretty big difference.

  1. The purpose of the particular amount of individuals is that it is theoretically proportional to the population at large. The best way to understand this idea is to imagine two barrels of marbles - 1/2 of the marbles are red, the other 1/2 are white. Suppose one barrel has 1,000 marbles, whereas the other has 100,000 marbles. Now, suppose you pulled 100 marbles from both barrels. In theory, you would have the same likelihood of getting the same proportion of red marbles to white marbles (i.e. roughly 50 red and 50 white ones, give or take), in light of the considerable difference in marbles in each barrel. The margin or error is thus calculated based upon a certain number of variables in regard to the population selected and the overall population.

That said, I'm going to go read a book, and not get laid. Like, ever.
