Because Rodney Stuckey became the first basketball player - and I'm pretty sure the only athlete ever - in Eastern Washington University history to have his jersey retired. Reese Court was packed (kind of) and the Detroit Pistons start put on a good face for the fans at the Sunday afternoon game against Weber State.
Eastern lost the matchup 77-69, but at Stuckey didn't miss a shot.
He did however, have a nice argyle sweater on. What can I say, the guy is a nice dresser.
It's kind of funny that he only played two years at the school, prompting one of my friends, Shane, to say "somebody is going to see the years on that jersey and say 'what? did somebody die in an automobile accident?'"
That along with making fun of a sub-leprechaun player on Weber State's team and some guy named Lillard, equaled a pretty fun afternoon. If Eastern Washington could make a tradition of retiring numbers, I wouldn't complain at all.
Yes, this game was very entertaining.
