Stuckey makes Kobe look silly

Well I mean Kobe already looks silly...

But Rodney Stuckey made Kobe look even sillier.

Stuckey Update: Lighting up the Kings

Hey remember this guy?

EWU's Rodney Stuckey finished with a season-high 36 points last night and the Detroit Pistons beat the Sacramento Kings 114-108.

While not a battle of the titans, both teams are a combined 20-42 on the season, but it's good to see Stuckey continue to do good things in the NBA.

"We were getting easy buckets just by pushing the ball," Stuckey said to AP. "We were getting out on the break, Brandon [Knight] was pushing the ball, and I was getting rim attacks. That's my game."

Stuckey is averaging 14.7 points per game and 4.1 assists this season, and has scored over 20 in his past three games. This is his fifth year in the NBA but it's been a sluggish start to the year, however he might be on the rise for a second-half surge.

Either way, five years in the NBA means he's better than any Gonzaga player in the NBA from the past 15 years (We're not counting John Stockton, of course).

Stuckey doing fine, released from hospital

Good news being reported, about an hour ago the AP said Rodney Stuckey has been released from the hospital.

DETROIT — Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey was "doing well" and was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon following his collapse on the bench Friday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

All tests done at the Cleveland Clinic came back normal, the team said. He was returning to Detroit and will undergo further tests.

"He's doing well," Pistons strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander told The Associated Press on Saturday morning.

Stuckey spent the night at the hospital for observation while cardiologists checked him out. He was conscious and breathing on his own as he was taken to the hospital after collapsing into Kander's arms on the bench during the third quarter.

Let's hope they can find exactly what happened because that kind of thing is very serious. It's good to hear that Rodney is doing better.

Rodney Stuckey collapses during NBA game

BAD News. Former EWU basketball star Rodney Stuckey collapsed during an NBA game against the Cavs with a seizure. ESPN reported that it looked like he was unconscious when he was taken into an ambulance and off to the hospital in Cleveland. This is a very sad development, I was watching that game and I'm in shock. Holy cow, hopefully we can keep you updated to his situation.

UPDATE - ESPN is reporting that Stuckey is conscious and breathing on his own.

Rodney Stuckey - don't mess with him

I'm sorry if I ever show my blatent EWU fandom, but here is Rodney Stuckey delivering a MONSTER BLOCK. You just have to see it.

In other news, Adam Morrison did nicely on the bench the other night for the Lakers.

Justson the Numbers: Rodney Stuckey

I was wondering how EWU great Rodney Stuckey was doing in the NBA these days and had to actually get off my butt and look up stats. However I was pleasantly surprised that he's actually doing pretty well this season. Check out his line:

Rodney Stuckey (Detroit Pistons) 2009-10 Statistics

PPG
17.2
RPG
5.30
APG
3.9

Not too shabby, maybe not Lebron-esque numbers but definitely serviceable. Problem is, the Pistons are 5-9 in the East and currently out of the top eight in the East which would mean no playoffs if the season ended today. Not that it matters though, considering the season is young, but the same could be said about Stuckey's line.

We'll have to check in with him throughout the season to see how he's doing. Lord knows he has a better jump shot than Casey and I.

The dog days of summer

I love baseball and good thing because that's going to be the only thing going on for the next couple of months unless you're a big follower of the PGA money standings and NASCAR.

With basketball over and football not starting up until August, we're in for the long haul. For some sports fans that might be too much. This could be where they finally turn and become WNBA fans.

And don't forget, sometimes baseball will have off-days or slow days where only a couple games are being played. What does that mean? Lots and lots of Washington Nationals highlights.

You might be wondering what Casey and I will be doing to pass the time and worry not, we're both quite sane during this slow time in sports. We will fill our time watching Looney Tunes, stalking Rodney Stuckey, coming up with theories on how the Seattle Seahawks are going to win the Super Bowl and playing Wii Bowling.

With the slowdown in sports what will you be doing?

No more "3" for Eastern Washington

Because Rodney Stuckey became the first basketball player - and I'm pretty sure the only athlete ever - in Eastern Washington University history to have his jersey retired. Reese Court was packed (kind of) and the Detroit Pistons start put on a good face for the fans at the Sunday afternoon game against Weber State.

Eastern lost the matchup 77-69, but at Stuckey didn't miss a shot.

He did however, have a nice argyle sweater on. What can I say, the guy is a nice dresser.

It's kind of funny that he only played two years at the school, prompting one of my friends, Shane, to say "somebody is going to see the years on that jersey and say 'what? did somebody die in an automobile accident?'"

That along with making fun of a sub-leprechaun player on Weber State's team and some guy named Lillard, equaled a pretty fun afternoon. If Eastern Washington could make a tradition of retiring numbers, I wouldn't complain at all.

Celebrity New Years Resolutions

Since everyone pretty much wants 2008 to leave and not wave goodbye, lets run down what celebrities are doing for new years resolutions...

Charles Barkley - Dropping D-Wade from my Top-5 and adding Rodney Stuckey. Also should probably avoid any speakeasys while I'm at it.

Al Gore - Forget American Politics, I'm going to push my agenda of Man-Bear-Pig onto the Church of England now. Woo doggie!

Vladimir Putin - I need to figure out which country I should invade first. Really, Alaska is looking pretty nice at the moment.

George W. Bush - Finish up Halo 3, I've been playing it so much these past couple months I really need to finish up before I have to go back to work with that inauguration thingy.

Gov. Rod Blogojevich - Hmmm, I really need to act like a bigger douchebag.

Brett Favre - To confuse people to no end about whether or not I'm going to retire this off-season.

Tony Romo - To win a Super Bow... oh wait. Nevermind.

Rick Reilly - To finally put an end to Bill Simmons' non-journalist ways. HE'S A BLOGGER! A BLOGGER! Meanwhile, I'm an 800-word quirky story stud. NOT A BLOGGER. BILL SIMMONS IS A BLOGGER!

Epic Photo: Chicago Bulls... meet Rodney Stuckey

Anyone seen Adam Morrison lately?

With Allen Iverson injured, former EWU basketball player Rodney Stuckey stepped up to the plate and delivered.

Fourty points, a career high, and a 104-98 victory for the Detroit Pistons over the Chicago Bulls.

And if you look at the photo on the right, Stuckey is owning Florida phenom Joakim Noah... also considered the ugliest son of a gun on the face of the planet.

So let's take a glance at Mr. Stuckey's stats for the season:

2nd Season
10.7 Points Per Game
5.1 Assists Per Game
47 percent shooting from the field

And more importantly, this isn't a guy from Duke, UCLA, North Carolina or ahem, Gonzaga.

Can we start Stuckeymania yet?

Epic Video: Proof that Shaq is a dirty player

We recently showed you a video where Shaq fouled Rodney Stuckey with such malice that he should have been kicked out of the league, and now I have further video proof that the big man is a dirty player.

Where is Commissioner Stern when you need him?

Epic Video: Rodney Stuckey

I went to college with this guy! I went to college with this guy! And my roommate still has a sweaty towel he threw into the crowd. He hasn't washed it either.

Stuckey gets his shot

It is finally Stuckey time! Yes, the former Eastern Washinton University Eagle, Rodney Stuckey finally got significant playing time tonight for the Detroit Pistons.

Sadly, it came when All-Star guard Chauncey Billups injured his right hamstring early in the first quarter. And even sadder still, the Pistons lost. But none-the-less Stuckey played 34 minutes and put up 19 points.

Plus, former Sonic Rashard Lewis had a huge night for the Magic. Putting up 33 points.

Now comes the big task for Stuckey. Billups was the quarterback of that Piston team, and on May 10, it looks like Stuckey will need to fill that role. Let's see what the rookie from EWU can do.

I personally watched him throughout his entire college career. He made it look so easy. At times it seemed he was simply playing with opposing teams. And while he hasn't gotten a ton of playing time this NBA season I believe that Stuckey will rise to the occasion. And show the city of Detroit the gem they found hiding in Cheney.
