Spokane needs a subway, or something with rails

What boggles me about the town of Spokane is here is a mid-sized city with regional importance and the only real effective way of getting around is driving in your own vehicle.

Sure there's the STA, but buses are somewhat limited in their scope and availability. Routes aren't that all encompassing and the type of people that ride it are sometimes rather undesirable.

Why does this city not have any sort of rail or train system. They could then connect up the Valley and CDA, creating a very viable business line that simple doesn't exist right now because people down want to drive. I know motions for a light rail have failed but seriously Spokane?

When you want to be considered with the big boys of cities, it's not going to take Gonzaga winning the national championship, it's going to take you building some viable public infrastructure in this town. When will that happen?
