High School Sports Feature: Lakesides New Coach

Jason Jones has been hired to coach girls basketball at Lakeside School (Lakeside High School). Jones will be taking over for the retired Sandy Schneider who coached the Lions for 26 seasons. In all those years Schneider collected 473 wins, 5 state championships and a state record 56 game winning streak. Schneider called it a career after leading the Lions to a 4th place finish in the state tournament this season.

In Jones Lakeside gets a coach who has plenty of experience and who is married to a Lakeside alum who played for Sandy Schneider.

Jones began coaching in 1994 at his alma-mater Garfield as an assistant boys basketball coach. He eventually moved on to be the head coach of Hazen's girls team for two years, then to Cleveland High School as Interim Athletic Director and most recently to Tyee.

Currently Jones is the executive director and director of player development for Northwest Elite Basketball.

If anything Jones has certainly been immersed in the Seattle basketball scene for many years. I'm sure Lakeside is eager for him to stick around.
