It's Christians gone wild!

Also saw this on Huckleberries. You can also read the full story of this, here.

Tyler Frost, right and his prom date Rebecca Smooty, left are interviewed by several local media outlets prior to attending Findlay High Schools prom Saturday night. Frost says he expects to be suspended from a Christian school for attending a public school prom with his girlfriend.

Here's an expert from the USA Today story that I would just love you to hear...

Heritage Christian School forbids dancing, hand holding and rock music. Frost's grandmother, Karen Frost, who teaches at Heritage Christian, said she had been praying for her grandson to "make the right decision" and skip the prom.

Is it me, or are there more and more Christian groups out there that just don't "get it"? This school definitely doesn't "get it."

I mean hand-holding, dancing and rock music? Really? This is like a bad real-life remake of "Footloose." How on earth does this accurately reflect the teachings of their religion? So are kids just suppose to be socially awkwardly and naive to relationships for the rest of their lives?

This is exactly the kind of narrow-minded thinking that gives Christians and Christianity a bad name. If I were a powerful Christian media source I would posterize this story and drive home the point that "Hey, this is not what we're about, we're not a bunch of people hell-bent on driving home antiqued values that make no sense in today's society."

But nope, Christians as a whole will either ignore this story as a whole or say "well I kind of agree where they're coming from, I just like my rock music"

You want to know why America is becoming less and less Christian? It's because of instances like this that show the religion's institutions to be... well... a bunch of idiots. This isn't even a core belief of the religon, but apparently that doesn't stop the school from preventing their students from experiencing the evils of palm feeling, music with a beat (instead of an old lady at the organ) and moving your feet.

(Sounds like they're primed to have a school of future Buffalo Bill's from "Silence of the Lambs" if you ask me)

Again this just continues to show more and more than even Christian groups fail to grasp the "big picture" of Christianity and impale themselves on footnotes not even written in the Bible but rather by some stuffy Puritan who had no rhythm.

And right-minded Christians won't do anything about it, can't think for themselves to realize that this makes their religion look very, very bad.

Seriously, I hope Frost scores on prom night. Good for him.

  1. How great would it have been if he was pushing the cameras and mics out of his way saying "Get the F*** outta my face"? It is stuff like this which drives people away from religion.
