I know the cold war is over but it does feel nice to beat Russia. With all the talk about that infamous USSR victory over the US in 1972 Olympic games when they replayed the final seconds like three hundred times until the Soviets won.
History didn't repeat itself, the good guys won 89-79 and I can make Russian jokes for the next two years.
The US is also within two wins of their first world championship since 1994. Although I'm assuming the world championships have had slightly less importance to the US and the pro players than the Olympics. You'll also note the Durant is really the only big hitter on this team. Kobe, Lebron, Wade and Bosh are nowhere to be seen.
They must be enjoying their talents in South Beach.
