High School Sports Feature: Division I Lacrosse Championship

Saturday May 16th at 2:00 pm pacific time the Lakeside Lions will be looking to add a 4th consecutive Girls Division I state championship to their total. The match will take place at Eastide Catholic School in Sammamish. This will be the 17th annual Washington Lacrosse Girls State Championship and the Lions have won 6 of them. On Saturday they will be facing Bainbridge High School in what is a rematch of last years title game which the Lions won 9-8.
The Spartans of Bainbridge will certainly not be a pushover as they are coming off of delivering a beat down to Mercer Island on Wednesday 23-5. Bainbridge owns 7 state championships of their own in girls lacrosse so they are not in uncharted waters against Lakeside. In the other semi-final match up Lakeside took care of Roosevelt 14-10 to force the rematch.

In other Lacrosse news, today the Division I All-State girls Lacrosse teams were announced. Roosevelt High School was very well represented as junior midfielder Angie Anderson along with senior Attackers Madeline Grose and Olivia Hull were named to the First Team. On the Second Team sophomore Sarah Clevenger made the team on defense and senior Alison Crabb made the team as an Attacker. Also head coach Vinca Swanson was named the Coach of the Year. You can see the rest of the list here.
