High School Sports Feature: Rainier Takes a Double Dip

In a double header yesterday, Rainier High School took both games against Winlock. The Mountaineers won the first game 8-3 then shut them out 15-0 in the second game. The second game ended in the 5th with Rainier not allowing a base hit.

With the two victories the Mountaineers (10-3 conference, 14-4 overall) are sitting in 3rd place in the 1A Evergreen Conference, behind Rochester and Montesano. This year Rainier has averaged scoring about 5.2 runs a game while giving up a meager 2.7 runs a game.

Rainier hopes to wrap up their season on May 5th with a pair of victories in a double header against 4th place Toledo. The games next Tuesday will mark the first meeting between Rainier and Toledo this season.
