Microsoft sponsors Seahawks jerseys

The Seahawks are adding Microsoft as the sponsors of their practice uniforms. Which means that Microsoft, who already sponsors the Sounders FC uniforms, now has the Seahawks and the Sounders. Wait till they get a hold of the Mariners and then they truly will own Seatttle.

RENTON, Wash. – The Seahawks announced a new partnership with Microsoft Corp’s Bing search engine as the team's presenting partner for the 2009 season. The Seahawks will wear Bing’s logo on the team’s practice jerseys.

“The Seahawks and Bing are a perfect brand match and we’re proud to connect the “decision engine” (Bing) with our decision engine - the coaches and players on the practice field,” said Seahawks CEO Tod Leiweke. “We viewed the available space on our practice jersey as sacred, not simply a billboard opportunity, and reserved it for only a truly authentic brand match with a partner that shares our core values. There is not a better fit in our minds than with our friends and neighbors at Microsoft and Bing.”

This is the first time a partner’s logo will be featured on the Seahawks practice jerseys. Bing patches will be positioned on the left chest area of the jerseys, which are worn year-round by the team, beginning with today’s practice.

With Bing still in its initial product launch window and focused on continuing to build momentum, their alliance with the Seahawks will not only feature the broad exposure connected to their jersey presence, but also several other fully-integrated national and regional marketing elements connected to team’s website, broadcast media, game presentation, and overall fan experience, all designed to raise awareness and stimulate new Bing user activity.

“Bing is proud to join with the Seahawks for the 2009 season. As our hometown team and a great supporter of Seattle and Microsoft, we feel confident we can do great things together over the course of the year,” said Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president of the Online Audience Business Group at Microsoft. “Bing offers great ways for Seahawks fans to plan amazing game experiences, from searching for local businesses around the stadium to booking travel for away games. Bing’s the best place for the connected Seahawks fan.”

Seahawks players will also wear the Bing logoed practice jerseys at community appearances throughout the season.
