Microsoft sponsors Seahawks jerseys
The Seahawks are adding Microsoft as the sponsors of their practice uniforms. Which means that Microsoft, who already sponsors the Sounders FC uniforms, now has the Seahawks and the Sounders. Wait till they get a hold of the Mariners and then they truly will own Seatttle.
This photo comes from Matt Hasselbeck's twitter page. That's his jersey with the new patch.
RENTON, Wash. – The Seahawks announced a new partnership with Microsoft Corp’s Bing search engine as the team's presenting partner for the 2009 season. The Seahawks will wear Bing’s logo on the team’s practice jerseys.
“The Seahawks and Bing are a perfect brand match and we’re proud to connect the “decision engine” (Bing) with our decision engine - the coaches and players on the practice field,” said Seahawks CEO Tod Leiweke. “We viewed the available space on our practice jersey as sacred, not simply a billboard opportunity, and reserved it for only a truly authentic brand match with a partner that shares our core values. There is not a better fit in our minds than with our friends and neighbors at Microsoft and Bing.”
This is the first time a partner’s logo will be featured on the Seahawks practice jerseys. Bing patches will be positioned on the left chest area of the jerseys, which are worn year-round by the team, beginning with today’s practice.
With Bing still in its initial product launch window and focused on continuing to build momentum, their alliance with the Seahawks will not only feature the broad exposure connected to their jersey presence, but also several other fully-integrated national and regional marketing elements connected to team’s website, broadcast media, game presentation, and overall fan experience, all designed to raise awareness and stimulate new Bing user activity.
“Bing is proud to join with the Seahawks for the 2009 season. As our hometown team and a great supporter of Seattle and Microsoft, we feel confident we can do great things together over the course of the year,” said Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president of the Online Audience Business Group at Microsoft. “Bing offers great ways for Seahawks fans to plan amazing game experiences, from searching for local businesses around the stadium to booking travel for away games. Bing’s the best place for the connected Seahawks fan.”
Seahawks players will also wear the Bing logoed practice jerseys at community appearances throughout the season.

Seahawks start training camp
The Seahawks kicked off training camp today, which means football season is just around the corner. Casey and I are predicting that our overall productivity will decrease, females will cease to see us in the social scene and Matt Hasselbeck will be getting odd phone calls at 3 a.m.Woo! Football is almost here!

Matt Hasselbeck has found Twitter
Apparently Matt Hasselbeck has been screwing around with Twitter and caused quite a ruckus. He posted the following yesterday, causing Hawk fans to collectively take a dump in their pants.I either have an ear infection or some bees crawled in my ear, stung me, and are building a bee hive.
Matt Hasselbeck ladies and gentlemen! Boy he's funny. I haven't heard something that funny since "We want the ball and we're gonna score" or whatever mess he made up in Green Bay.
Now people were freaking out because ear infections can be a serious deal if you're a player because it affects your depth perceptions and sense of balance - something you might need while playing football.
This caused the Seahawks to post a news story that basically said "Boy that Twitter, it sure is funny. Matt's okay though. Seriously he's fine. HE'S FINE!!!"
I'm beginning to really enjoy this Twitter thing.

Is Kasey Keller actually Matt Hasselbeck?
You may have remembered that Keller was out for the two games the Sounders lost. The first one he was ejected with a red card, when in turn made him ineligible for the second game against Chivas USA.
He's a pretty important part to the Sounders which reminds me of another bald fellow who looks like he should be teaching community college classes or managing an Applebee's...

Here's Kasey Keller. Goalie extraordinaire. And Here's the king of baldness himself...
I wish the Sonics were still in town and then they could draft Blake Griffin's brother,
(Left) yeah... somebody needs to give up on the whole "having hair thing."

Welcome to Seattle Houshmandzadeh
Houshmandzadeh's pick comes as a bit of a surprise to me as he was easily the "prize" receiver in free agency. He stated that he likes Coach Mora and that it really meant a lot to him that Matt Hasselbeck greeted him when he visited the Seahawks last week.
The deal is supposedly worth $40 million over five years, with about $15 million guaranteed.
Sadly though Houshmandzadeh's arrival all but closes the chapter on Bobby Engram's time with the Hawks. It will be very sad to see Engram go, but it is nice to see a new, even more talented reciever come in.
Welcome to the area Housh. Make yourself at home. I'm sure you'll love it here. Oh, and the 12th man is pretty supportive.

Goodbye Mo. Hello Housh?

It didn't take long into the NFL free agency for one of the Seattle Seahawks higher profile unrestricted free agents to be swept away.
Maurice Morris is no longer a Hawk. He now will be suiting up for the Detroit Lions after signing a three year $7 million dollar contract.
I am sad to see Morris go. While he never was the feature back, thanks to Shaun "if you get near me I fall down" Alexander, he was a local product in a way. I know he was from South Carolina, but he played college ball just south of Seattle at the University of Oregon.
Morris was chosen in the second round of the 2002 draft by the Hawks, but with new Head Coach Jim Mora Jr, it looks like he just didn't fit into the plans. This leaves the Hawks with last year's free agent signees Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett.
Morris always seemed like a team player and did whatever was asked of him. I really don't think the Lions will turn around in one season, but for his sake I hope they at least block for him and he doesn't get killed. Thanks for the memories Mo. Good luck to you.
In happier news for Seahawk fans T.J. Houshmandzadeh has said that there are four teams that he would be happy playing for next year. Those are:
Seahawks, Giants, Eagles and Vikings.
That's right, the Seahawks are on the list.
Most of the experts are saying that Philadelphia is the most likely place he'll go. Followed closely by the Giants. I have yet to hear one say the Hawks.
But for some reason Houshmandzadeh put them on his top four. I'm sure he knows the team was hurting last year at receiver, and perhaps he likes the direction Mora is taking the team. I guess only time will tell. But it would be nice to give Matt Hasselbeck a 6-1, 199 target. Very nice.

The Pro Bowl is a system, Neo...
Matt Hasselbeck: Man, how am I going to stand up to the likes of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in the Pro Bowl against a Pro Bowl defense. This sounds like way too much for me, I'm used to taking on NFC West defensives, which couldn't make it in the WAC.Morpheus: The Pro Bowl isn't real, Neo.
Matt Hasselbeck: Wait, who are you? You realize it's 90 degrees out here, why are you wearing a leather trench coat.
Morpheus: I'm Morpheus, you've been looking for me a long time, Neo.
Matt Hasselbeck: Morpheus.. oh, oh, no no, I just got drunk last night looking up porn and instead of typing in more... okay I'm not going to explain myself any further. Why are you calling me Neo.
Morpheus: Isn't that your StumbleUpon login name?
Matt Hasselbeck: Oh yeah, it's the bald head. All my teammates call me Neo. They say it's short for something. But, hey I got to practice, this is a big game.
Morpheus: You've got to make a choice, Neo, between the Red jersey and the Blue jersey. If you take one it will be for the wrong conference but no one will really care because it's the pro bowl.
Matt Hasselbeck: What? The Pro Bowl isn't a big deal.
Morpheus: Let me show you something Neo, here look at this computer laptop screen.
Matt Hasselbeck: Okay, hmmm, this is an NFL Forum, why have 180,000 people responded to the thread entitled "Why wont anyone come to my Pro Bowl Party"?
Morpheus: Because the Pro Bowl isn't a real game Neo, it's a fake. The NFL has enslaved your mind into thinking it's an actual athletic competition, but it's not Neo. You must free your mind and join the real world.
Matt Hasselbeck: But Brett Favre is standing right there! I know that's Brett Favre, I used to back him up in Green Bay.
Morpheus: While that's Brett Favre's body, his mind is somewhere else, Neo. He's probably had 15 margaritas before getting here. What the NFL is doing is using your body as a source of revenue.
Matt Hasselbeck: What?
Morpheus: That's right Neo, nobody is taking this game seriously. That's not a Pro Bowl defense over there, that's a bunch of guys that just came from Hawaiian strip mall to get souvenirs for their family members
Matt Hasselbeck: No, no, I don't believe you!
Morpheus: Believe it Neo. Do you think that's a real NFL football your throwing? It has festive Hawaiian flowers emblazoned on it. It's Yellow, green and pink Neo.
Matt Hasselbeck: How did this happen?
Morpheus: Several NFL players are hooked into the Pro Bowl. The NFL is trying to fool the world that they're showcasing the best football talent around. It's the most realistic recreation of a football game known to man. Some minds can't reject it's fakeness. People are so intertwined that they just refuse to leave the Matrix.
Matt Hasselbeck: The Matrix?
Morpheus: Yes, Neo. The Matrix, we're in Hawaii right now, which is an alternative reality of football. Look at the Hawaii Warriors, they were undefeated before playing an SEC team. They left the confines of the Matrix and were crushed.
Matt Hasselbeck: So none of this is real? What am I worried about then?
Morpheus: Other than Shaun Alexander being in your backfield next year, I'm not sure.
Matt Hasselbeck: So if this isn't real, does this mean that I can scramble outside the pocket.
Morpheus: Whoah, Matt. Don't get ahead of yourself.
