Winter X Games Commercials

These new commercials for the 15th Winter X Games are some of my favorite in a long time.

Let's just say that even the mule deer know that Bobby Brown is awesome and they give mad props to Sammy Carlson. Snow owls know Shaun White is gonna kill it at the Games and that Gretchen Bleiler is gonna go huge. Oh, and even some saplings get in on the action.

Check them out:

Dutch Winter

This is a pretty neat video about what the Dutch do for fun in the winter.

A Skiers Journey

Winter is just around the corner and soon snow will be falling in the mountains.

Until then, check out this film by Jordan Manley called A Skiers Journey.

There are some truly beautiful scenes in it.

Okay, this hasn't exactly been a winter

What the hell is going on in Spokane? It is now February and I don't think we've had any snow on the ground to speak of. When it does snow, it melts away within a day. Last year at this time, we had something like two feet of snow on the ground.

Now? Well, here are the toughest things about this winter...

(1) Finding a pair of shorts that looks trendy yet conservative.
(2) Finding a good sun-bathing location.
(3) Scraping off the sun-baked mud off my car.
(4) Putting aloe on my sunburns.
(5) Figuring out when they're having a pool day at Riverfront park.

If you will excuse me, I have some beach volleyball to play...

Best stove for winter camping

I have said before that winter is my favorite season to camp in. Sure summer camping is easier as you need less gear. And if you fall in a river, you can easily dry out.

But winter camping. Now that is a great experience.

A popular question that is often brought up is what is the best gear for winter camping? I'll start going over the gear that I bring when camping in the snow over the next few weeks.

But lets start off this discussion with a great post by our blogging friend Scoutmaster Jerry.

He has a great post from yesterday discussing the best stove for winter camping.

You can view this post here, as well as the rest of his blog.
