Superman has always been my favorite superhero. Sure there have been other superheros that have come out that have perhaps been cooler, flashier or with sweet gadgets. But for me it was something entirely different. You see Superman was the first comic book that I ever read because my mom had read them as a little kid and gave me them when I was young.

I loved the original Superman The Movie with Christopher Reeve. And when Smallville came out on the WB (now the CW) I started watching from that very first episode and never missed one for the entire 10 seasons Smallville was on.

So it was only natural that when I heard that Warner Bros was making a new Superman movie I was giddy with antcipation. And when the teaser trailer came out this summer I watched it over and over and over hoping for more.

And then today the first FULL trailer came out! I about jumped out of my skin with excitement. And let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. I can't wait for next summer. So watch and let us know what you think. Are you excited for Man of Steel?

First Superman comic sells for record price

I am a huge fan of Superman. The only show that I really watch on TV is Smallville. This was on a Smallville fan site:

A rare copy of the first comic book featuring Superman has sold for $317,200 in an Internet auction. The previous owner had bought it for less than a buck.

It’s one of the highest prices ever paid for a comic book, a likely testament to the volume’s rarity and its excellent condition, said Stephen Fishler, co-owner of the auction site ComicConnect.com and its sister dealership, Metropolis Collectibles.

The winning bid for the 1938 edition of Action Comics No. 1, which features Superman lifting a car on its cover, was submitted Friday evening by John Dolmayan, drummer for the rock band System of a Down, according to managers at ComicConnect.com.

Dolmayan, who is also a dealer of rare comic books, said he acquired the Superman comic on behalf of a client he declined to identify.

“This is one of the premier books you could collect,” he said in a telephone interview. “It’s considered the Holy Grail of comic books. I talked to my client, and we made the move.”

Dolmayan said the client has “a small collection, but everything he has is incredible.”

Only about 100 copies of Action Comics No. 1 are known to exist and they seldom come up for sale.

“Maybe in a booming economy, it would have done a hundred grand more, but in this economy, I think the price is great,” Fishler said.

The man who had previously owned the book purchased it in a secondhand store in the early 1950s when he was nine years old.

He paid 35 cents.

Talk about a markup in profit. Now what did I do with that signed Babe Ruth rookie card I used to use for a bookmark?

Smallville season nine is a GO!

My all time favorite television show and the only show I have watched every episode of since day one got renewed for a ninth season.

That's right, Smallville on the CW!

I still remember watching the first episode all those years ago. That evening I knew this show would be amazing. And it has yet to disappoint.

Also back on the CW for fall of 2009 will be One Tree Hill, Supernatural, 90210, Gossip Girl and America's Next Top Model.
