WWE wins their fight against the NBA... sorta
This is why people that watch the WWE don't have hot girlfriends. Serious.Vince McMahon got his takedown of Denver Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke on the WWE television show Monday night.
Sort of.
During the World Wrestling Entertainment's "Monday Night Raw" show, McMahon shoved a mock Kroenke to the mat and the faux Kroenke fell out of the ring at the Staples Center. The wrestling card was switched from the Pepsi Center last week to Los Angeles because of Game 4 of the Lakers-Nuggets series being played in Denver. Originally, the date was held by the WWE.
And the following match... errr skit... just shows you what kind of intelligent storyline that an astute and classy organization such as the WWE can provide. The imitation Kroenke then announced that he is "the owner of the soon-to-be NBA champion Denver Nuggets. And I cannot stand the WWE or its fans, for that matter."
"Do you think that I care that I screwed thousands of WWE fans? I do not. I have much more important things to do with my team than worry about you people."
McMahon then entered the fray, ambling into the ring and telling the pretend Kroenke, "None of this had to happen. All you had to do was pick up the phone, say `I didn't think my team would make the playoffs, I screwed up."
Seconds later, McMahon shoved "Kroenke" after warning him, "When you push the WWE universe, they push back."
The finale featured five-man tag teams wearing Nuggets and Lakers jerseys. The Lakers won, eliciting loud cheers from the Staples Center crowd.
Meanwhile, back in the real world where fans actually have jobs... the Nuggets beat the Lakers in Game 4. Now that Staples Center crowd might witness their team get eliminated, but hey, at least they got to see one heck of a wrassling match too.

Forget the Western Conference Finals, let's bust out the WWE!
As much as I like steroid-fueled men try to knock the crap out of one another, the NFL doesn't start for a while. I guess it will be just the natural players of the NBA slugging things out in the Western Conference Finals. However, the WWE is now embroiled in a battle over Denver's Pepsi Center where Game Four of the series is slated to be played next Monday. WWE Raw is also scheduled at the Pepsi Center as the same time.
So what does this mean? Well, it means that it's time for Vince McMahon to say something stupid...
"Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs, obviously Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25th date for a potential playoff game," said WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
Let's send some pissmen (drug testers) to the door of WWE Raw and see what happens. Something tells me that everyone would scatter like cockroaches. That should free up the Pepsi Center for the NBA. Listen I love wrestling as much as the next guy living with his grandpa, girlfriend-less and hopelessly addicted to sports, but let's not forget ITS THE WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS.
I'm sure all the jobless wrestling fans can come back on Tuesday or Wednesday night.

Reasons why you're still single... WWE
I just wrote the previous post and compared major-league baseball to wrestling.
I'm available ladies! Just saying, how could this NOT be attractive to women.
I write a blog. That's my pickup line.

Give Griffey the Stone Cold treatment
.171That's Ken Griffey Jr.'s batting average with two home runs and two RBIs. Tonight he went 0-3 with two strikeouts in Seattle's 9-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
While the Mariners' didn't exactly bring in Griffey to be their offensive horse - it was to sell tickets - they're going to have to do something if he continues to be a gaping hole in the lineup.
Solution? Let me tell you a story of the WWE wrestler called Stone Cold Steve Austin. You see, Austin became incredible popular during what we could call pro wrestling's golden age.
However, poor Austin - at the peak of his popularity in 2003- his body just couldn't take it anymore.
But they just couldn't shelve him. Here's a hall-of-famer wrestler and they just couldn't drop the guy off the radar so suddenly.
Instead the WWE cut any sort of in-ring wrestling and basically had him run around performing antics and gag stunts, usually ending with him using the "stunner" on Vince McMahon. He drove beer trucks into the ring, ATVs into the ring, threw beer into the crowd, drove other vehicles into the ring and generally just raised all sorts of hell.
The WWE had found a loophole. Stone Cold wasn't actually wrestling anymore, but he was still a presence. A presence that the home crowd loved. And this what they should do for Griffy. Let him suit up, run around Safeco Field with a cooler full of beer. Griffey can drive a freakin' Monster Truck onto the diamond for all I care, he's Ken Griffey Jr., People would love that.
Except for the grounds crew.
And an added point of entertainment, they could build up an on-going feud with Bud Selig and just have Griffey use the "stunner" on Selig for in-between inning promotions.
Now I'd pay 40 bucks to see that.

Label this one under ass-whooping
Brock Lesnar of WWE fame has sucessfuly crossed over from a preforming athlete to a real athlete after he won the UFC heavyweight title by beating Randy Couture in the second round of their fight on Saturday Night.Lesnar sent him to the canvas in the second round with a glancing blow that landed behind the ear and wasted no time in landing numerous hammer fists. Couture was never able to recover and the fight was stopped moments later.
Now, my former roommate Cary Rosenbaum could tell you how much I watched professional wrestling and UFC, almost as much as he watched episodes of One Tree Hill and The OC.
(Anyone who knows Cary will get the joke. All he did was spend time in his room watching Might Ducks 2, playing NCAA Football 2008 - leading Navy, Army, Temple, Idaho, and Canada State to national championships, playing Guitar Hero and entertaining hot girls while my other roommate Jake and I played Scattegories in the living room)
But the fact that this guy is absolutely HUGE, and he basically just out-muscles his opponents is pretty impressive. A former NCAA wrestling champion, he may have found his niche in actual sports. The only problem now is the perception that the WWE is now a legit farm league for UFC.
