Oh that plucky Seattle Mariners bullpen

Ain't nothin' quite like the Seattle Mariners eh?

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Angels haven't had a comeback win like this in nearly 13 years, and David Aardsma's first blown save of the season enabled them to get it done.

Kendry Morales capped a three-run ninth inning with a bases-loaded single, and Los Angeles overcame a seven-run deficit against an overworked Seattle Mariners bullpen to pull out a wild 9-8 victory on Sunday.

But at least the Angels' win preserved my ESPN Streak for the Cash. We will see how that fares now with the JustSON curse rules now in effect.

With the Mariners losing yesterday, here's how the standings look in the AL West

The Rangers are starting to establish themselves a nice little cushion, and the way that the Angels and Mariners have been playing so far, I wouldn't be surprised to see them battle one another for the Two-Three spot in in the West. Keep in mind that with the exception of this game, Seattle was actually playing very well and almost swept the Angels.

My friend Dylan Kitzan just had a pretty rough night

So JustSON contributor and Unforgivable blogger Dylan Kitzan just had a pretty rough night. He watched his team, the Spokane Chiefs - a team he has season tickets to - get eliminated in the second round of the playoffs after losing game 7, 1-0.

In overtime.

Then there's the Boston Red Sox, a team that Kitzan religiously follows , who lost 6-5 in the 12th inning tonight to the Oakland A's. This drops them to 2-6 on the season and keeps them in dead last of the AL East.

Meanwhile, the Yankees won tonight 7-3.

Again, it's early in the season. But damn. This has not been a good night for the man.

You can help Kitzan recover from what I can only compare this to is breaking up with your girlfriend of five years after she cheated on you with Jason Giambi.

So please. Send beer. Women. A DVD copy of Rocky 4. Some cigars. A small stash of slightly illegal drugs. More beer (Kokanee). And a shot of the strongest liquor you have to Mr. Kitzan's house.

Godspeed.

Carlos Silva's diet

There's already quite a bit of buzz around the Seattle Mariner's 5-2 start this season, however I need to say two things: it's very early in the season and you have Carlos Silva in your starting rotation. If there were ever a bigger turd of a pitcher in baseball, I'm pretty sure it would be something a dinosaur crapped out. Not convinced about his girth? This is what this man eats before he goes to the ballpark.

9:00 a.m. - Left side of the menu at IHOP
11:00 a.m. - A goat (cursed of course)
12:00 p.m. - A BK Quad combined with a small child.
3 p.m. - Whoops, better get to the stadium, where are those garlic fries?
4 p.m. - Roughly fourty pounds of Slim Jims
6 p.m. - Ryan Rowland-Smith
7 p.m. - Time to waddle out to the mound.

However, I will give the Mariners this, Erik Bedard's pitching performance against the A's in a 1-0 win to sweep Oakland was pretty impressive. Although I'm not really sure about the lineup that the A's are sporting. The AL West is not going to be a great division this year, so if the Mariners do overachieve they could be right in the thick of things.

Now lets move on to big boy baseball...

If you want to see how the Boston Media is handling the slow start for the Red Sox, well go to bostondirtdogs.com and when looking for the score of yesterday's game, you'll see it under Anaheim 5, Last Place Team 4.

Oh brother. And the Sox just put shortstop Jed Lowrie on the disabled list with a wrist injury. He could be out for a long time. He's to be replaced with Nick Green - who has a lifetime batting average of .240 and 10 career home runs (and use to play for the Yankees). Boston.com is saying that once Julio Lugo recovers from his knee surgery, he'll take over the full-time short-stop spot.

Now the team that the Mariners just swept (Oakland) will try to extend John Lester's slow start as he takes the mound tonight for Boston. Might have a late post about how that game ends up, because I'm actually really interested to see how the Sox do against a team that Seattle swept.

And A-Rod reported today to New York's spring training facility after having hip surgery on March 9. Word on the street is that they removed all mirrors from the place. ZING! I'll be here all night ladies and gentlemen.

You will be missed...

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We’re gathered here today to remember a good friend, someone who gave us countless weekends of enjoyment and hope. They had a good run, even brought us an NBA title in 1979, but was tragically declared dead by authorities after a 127-13 drubbing taken by all three of it’s Div. I football teams last weekend.

What makes this tough to swallow is the fact that they were the life of the party on many occasions. They won 116 games a couple of years ago in baseball, but their skills deteriorated, retired or were traded away and the replacement parts were grossly overpriced.

They beat Texas in the Holiday Bowl and were among the nation’s top programs, but one coach let the program slip into mediocrity and a new one is struggling to pick the pieces up, or even score a point.

They once shared a National Title, but now the only thing they might be sharing in the future is Qwest Field if they can’t get state money to renovate their crumbling stadium.

They once had FCS national title hopes coming into this season, now they’ll be lucky to finish above .500. Meanwhile, a Texas Tech squad they played so closely in the first game of the season is ranked No. 2 in the BCS.

They were tragically ripped away from us, much like the basketball team in Oklahoma City and it will be a long, Tyrone Willinghamless journey to recovery. However there’s one thing that we can take solace in, it’s not how they lost but how they won.

Sometimes.

Like 1995, or that Super Bowl run a few years ago. Although even after the end this Saturday, they still found a way to lose to the Philadelphia Eagles.

We will miss them greatly, and we hope they find a better place, or at least a higher place in the AL West standings.
