Michael Jordan banned from golf course

The greatest basketball player of all time was kicked off a golf course because he was wearing cargo shorts. In other news, golf courses need to realize its 2012 and 1902.

(I'm talking about Michael Jordan, the guy that was on this poster)

The La Gorce Country Club in Miami, Florida, reportedly kicked Jordan off the links in the middle of his game and banned him from ever returning because he violated the club's strict dress code.

Not even Jordan, with his six NBA championship rings, reported half-billion-dollar fortune and worldwide recognition, could escape the policy at the golf course that demands a tucked in collared shirt and Bermuda shorts.

My question is why? Wouldn't the golf course benefit from having a celebrity on the links? Do you think any of the other golfers would complain that Michael Jordan had cargo shorts on? Its not like he's out there dressed like Homer Simpson.

(And if you're a Jordan fan, get this)

Dress Codes are incredibly stupid on golf courses because very rarely do you see other golfers outside of your group up close and person except at the pro shop or waiting for somebody to play through. But in true rich person fashion, if somebody else is doing something they don't do, it's a problem. I'm wishing Michael would just buy the golf course (He can afford it).

(Michael Jordan Jersey - you know you want one)

John Daly, Ladies and Gentlemen!

Here's a photo of John Daly from the British Open. Apparently, he was thinking it was being held in the Bahamas.

Tiger!

Certainly not a subpar photo...

Lets make fun of people! Cause it makes us feel better about ourselves!

A reporter screws up and does her own take on Tiger Woods' injury

See the horrific on-air mishap here.

Remember Yuniesky Betancourt and how much he sucks?

Here's proof he still sucks, just for the Royals now.

Enjoy, and remember, it's Monday, so we have the right to make fun of people.

More tasered fans! Oh goody!

I hope we have more tasering during sports. In fact, lets start tasering players. If a closer blows a save, tase his butt. If somebody gets PI during a big football game, zap the heck out of him. Although lets not do it too much because I still want people to heckle Tiger Woods.

A drunken golf fan got the shock of his life Friday when cops Tasered him after he refused to stop heckling Tiger Woods on the 11th hole of The Players Championship.

Travis Parmelee, 36, of Jacksonville, Fla., was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest, officials said.

Security guards at the Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., tournament told Parmelee to stop yelling several times before calling the sheriff, who dispatched deputies to make an arrest.

Capt. Dave Messenger said officers attempted to calm Parmelee down, but he became more combative. When they tried to take Parmelee into custody, he resisted - and was Tasered once.

Oh and Tiger is -4, tied for 45th place. FAAANTASTIC.

The difference between Tiger and Big Ben

Not that I condone either's actions, I do find it interesting how everyone is reacting to the Ben Roethlisberger and Tiger Woods "sex scandals" in the past few months. One is the most famous athlete in the world, did something completely legal but immoral and is ripped apart by the media for it. The other hasn't been officially charged for anything but it's quite clear that his actions towards women have been very inappropriate for somebody of his stature (or any stature for that manner).

Yet, if you're keeping score at home, Tiger Woods has been ran through the ringer much more than Big Ben. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback has had his fare share of flack from the media but the only endorsement he's lost is for some crappy beef jerky. And nobody is demanding public apologies from Big Ben, or trying to determine how his actions directly affect their being - whereas everyone was proclaiming how much Tigers' actions affected the deep reaches of their soul.

Also how many awkward press conferences have we had to watch where Ben apologizes to his mother?

I know that Tiger Woods isn't any saint, but he didn't do anything nearly as atrocious as Big Ben was rumored to have done. If you want to boil down the quarterback's actions to a horribly watered down and inaccurate "taking advantage" of women (Which is crap, the dude is a creep and a bastard, but that's just my thought), that's still one-hundred times worse than Tiger Woods cheating on his wife with lots of women.

In Tiger's case, everybody did what they did on their own free will. And frankly, it's not really our business, even if Tiger is a big name. However, Big Ben is obviously forcing his will on other people. Yet Tiger gets the brunt of this media explosion.

I know that he hasn't been convicted, but there are so many instances surrounding this quarterback, you have to reaaaaalllyyy wonder what he's doing. When there is smoke, there is fire. Simple as that.

Tiger? Sure he's a bad husband, but he's not nearly as bad a guy as Big Ben and I dont think he should even be put on that same level as Ben.

What Tiger did was a mistake, what Ben did was a crime. Or many crimes.

Admit it America, you love Tiger Woods

You say you don't care about Tiger Woods? You say that you wont watch because of what he's done? You say you don't care about golf or The Masters? You lied apparently as The Masters ratings were up, up, up this year - only topped by Tiger's first green jacket in 1997.

NEW YORK (AP) — Phil Mickelson's Masters win, with Tiger Woods lurking but never really contending, drew much higher television ratings than last year but fell far short of the record set by Woods' first title at Augusta.

Sunday's final round on CBS earned a 12.0 overnight rating and 25 share. That's up 36 percent from last year's 8.8/21 for Angel Cabrera's win in a two-hole playoff. But it doesn't come close to the 15.8/32 for Woods' first Masters victory in 1997.

It was still the third highest overnight rating for a final round of any golf tournament since at least 1986, which is as far back as the records go. Woods' second Masters title in 2001, when he became the first player to hold all four professional majors at once, drew a 12.9/27.

Admit it America, you love Tiger Woods. Or at least you love to watch him.

Phil Mickelson just has bad luck

If you're not watching The Masters, you're missing a lot of good golf. However, when nature conspires to get in the way, this happens...

The Tiger Woods Commercial

I'm not sure if you've seen this Nike Commercial, which basically has Tiger Woods stare at the camera while his late dad voices over some sage advice for his son. Some have said it's creepy and downright exploitative of the situation the world's best golfer is in. However, I'm going to go down the road that this is a pretty awesome commercial.

As far as this being a commercial for Nike, I think it's actually pretty up front for them to address the issue. Had they just cut together a normal Tiger commercial it probably would have been met with just as much ridicule with people saying "Look they didn't even address his infidelity!" Either way, it would have been something that people brought up. Taking advantage of the situation? Like every media outlet and talking head did at the time it happened. Tiger and Nike have every right to address this in an ad that is basically selling Tiger. And frankly, it wasn't done in a distasteful or demeaning manor. You might even go so far to say it was a nice artistic tough - I mean it perfectly catches what Tiger has to live up to/face when he goes out onto the golf course.

(And that's what Nike is known for, making commercials that stick in your mind and are bold)

Using Earl Wood's voice isn't tasteless either since Tiger's father is basically what defined Tiger for much of his early career. I mean anytime you think of Tiger, you have to think of Earl Woods. The two are inseparable and Earl is one of Tiger's biggest motivations to play the game of golf. Large parts of life are you trying to please your parents, I mean nobody wants to be a disappointment, and the simple fact of the matter is that neither does Tiger.

Sure it's an ad, but it's probably the most artistic and graceful way you can approach this whole Tiger mess. Which is a lot more than what the media has done the past few months.

Bad things to say to Tiger when he returns to golf

1. So I know this good strip club just down the road...
2. Don't go around the tree! Attack it like you want to run it over!
3. Do you text message?
4. So you looked TOTALLY akward during your last press conference
5. Why is your wife following us?

Hats off to Tom Watson

If you're a sports fan at all, then you heard about 59-year old Tom Watson's second-place finish in the British Open. Watson was tops on the leaderboard all weekend but lost in a playoff. Since then, the reaction to this story has been largely "How disappointing was it that Tom Watson lost?" and "How lame is golf if a 59-year can compete in a major?"

No, this wasn't disappointing, and this certainly doesn't take a hit to the credibility of golf.

Golf is a wonderful game. I've never picked up clubs and tried it myself, but the mere fact that people play it from a young age until the day that they die is a testament to how great it is.

There are certainly better athletes in the NFL, MLB and NBA, but what's average career of an NFL running back? Five years? That's it and then they may have some serious medical problems to deal with.

At least in the PGA, our favorite golfers age gracefully.

Along with that, how many of these athletes can do what PGA golfers can do? Sure Tiger makes everyone look like a bunch of clowns, but that's because he's a once-in-a-lifetime golfer. Everybody on tour can do great things on the golf course, that's how they go there. It takes a skill that not too many people have.

And the fact that Watson finished second is more of a testament to how well Watson performed as opposed to how "weak" the supposed competition of the rest of the British Open was. If you think you could do better, go to your local golf course and see if you can go head-to-head with the course pro there. See what happens.

This was just a fantastic story, Watson carried himself wonderfully and I'm glad that it happened. I'm glad that sometimes the human spirit can fight off father time and just for a brief moment of time - we can stick out tongue out at our own mortality.

Tiger Woods just became my best friend

Tiger Woods is an amazing golfer - there's no debate - but you usually don't hear a whole lot about him off the golf course. He's managed to keep his personal life out of the tabloids for the most part and sometimes he seems a little bland.

Well not anymore, he's now criticizing the ticket prices at Yankee Stadium.

BETHESDA, Md. - Tiger Woods is working on his stinger shot off the course as well. He went deep on the Yankees Friday with a swipe at what the "Evil Empire" is charging for admission to the new Yankee Stadium.

Complying with a trend in golf, the AT&T National host is letting kids under 12 in for free this week.

"We don't want to have what happened at Yankee Stadium," Woods said. "Tickets are so overpriced that you can't bring the family. We want to have everyone come out and enjoy being in a family atmosphere, walk around, have a good time and not have it cost an arm and a leg."

I'm pretty sure this is like Tiger Woods first official opinion ever, and it's a dig at the Yankees. Awesome. Hopefully Tiger keeps his hot tongue ways and makes fun of Derek Jeter after the Masters.

Cyber adventures with Wii Golf

Since there’s still roughly a foot of snow outdoors and every time I try to go down to the gas station I get passed by a Sherpa scaling the large mountains in Cheney, I decided to remember the better times of summer by playing Wii Golf (on the Wii Sports package).

Problem is, I suck at Wii Golf, I suck large, steaming, smelly donkey crap at Wii Golf. My best score on that game is +8, and keep in mind that you’re playing a nine-hole course. That’s god-awful, somewhere John Daly is laughing, chugging a fifth of whiskey and passing out in some woman’s lap. But that’s what he does, because he’s John Daly.

Now me on the other hand, am not as cool as John Daly, that’s probably why I’m playing Wii Golf by myself in my room on a Sunday night. That’s okay though, I have anti-depressants on the way via UPS.

Oh and thanks to my bootlegged mult-player program I loaded up on the Wii, Casey also got to be in the game of Wii Golf. Problem is, he really wasn’t concerned about my quest to improve my golf score, as you will see throughout this post.

I started off my nine-hole game on a very negative note, overshooting the green on my second shot, however I was able to save face by chipping close to the hole for an easy par putt-in.

Casey, on the other hand, didn’t even play the first hole, he was too busy using the “Mii Parade” feature on the Wii. “Hey check this out, somebody made a Mii of Matt Damon!”

Screw Matt Damon. Just like Sarah Silverman did.

On the second hole, I promptly put my ball in the sand. And nothing bugs me more than sandy balls.

I chip it on the green but two-putt the damn thing. I wrap my putter around a tree via a special and widely unknown button-combination code. Casey, on the other hand, it making sand castles in the bunker.

I did manage to have one good hole in the game, smashing through the trees twice on the third hole but making a nice putt for birdie. That put me back at even.

Then came my worst enemy, the 4th hole in Wii golf. The Island hole. This hole gives me nightmares. Sometimes I wake up in a cold sweat after imagining that I overshot the island for the umpteenth time. It’s about as frustrating as one of those claw machines at the Supermarket. You know what I mean? The claw machines where you try and pick up some sort of prize out behind class but the damn thing always seems to loose its grip at the last moment? That’s what it’s like playing on the Island hole.

And I bogeyed it. Way to go, Brandon. Maybe this is why your relatives don’t talk to you anymore.

Casey was strangely playing Waverunner 64 around the island during this hole.

On the fifth hole, I hit one tree, and then another, and then I bogey the hole to go up +2. I’ve struck more wood in this game that a teenager looking at the latest swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated.

Casey points and laughs, but a virtual bird flying above drops a little present on his Mii’s head, who strangely looks like Matt Damon.

“Did you load up the Matt Damon Mii? Why?”

“I like Matt Damon.”

“….. get away from me”

I got a par on the 6th hole, but really screwed things up on the seventh, by three-putting for the double bogey and going up to +4 in the game.

However, hope was in sight, with only two holes left, I could get another high score on the game, as long as I didn’t screw things up.

I set myself up with a par on the eighth, while Casey flew a kite with his Matt Damon Mii. I had a four-shot cushion on my best score.

And then… the ninth hole. I was on stroke seven and I haden’t even gotten past the driving tees because of the water hazards and when I finally made it to the green, it was a lost cause.

I got a +5 on the hole. They don’t even have a cool bird nickname for that.

As I left the game in disgust, I noticed Casey and his Matt Damon Mii skipping off into the sunset.

It was then I realized that I hate golf, and Matt Damon.
